Question about FTA Satellite

Ok, I will admit right off the bat that I am a huge noob when it comes to this, but I am really interested in Satellites. I have a 7 foot dish with a C and a KU LNB on it however I currently don't use it. I just have it, I have a Pansat Satcruiser DVB, and also a GE analog receiver. I recently acquired all this stuff, but I no clue how to use it, and it just sits there, and I want to try to figure out how it works, to actually get some use out of this huge thing. Basically I was looking at the FTA channels and what is available and I noticed that there seems to be quite a few FTA channels coming out of Germany and the UK and other European countries. But my question is are any of these available here in Canada, I live in Montreal which is kind of in line with New York. My initial guess would be no. Because from what I have read on this site it needs to be between 40W and 160W to get it here. But the thing is when on Lyngsat and in the Free TV section under United States. Right off from the start you see Koreasat 2@113 East, Eurasiasat 1 at 42.0°E, Hot Bird 6 at 13.0°E, Nilesat 101 at 7.0°W,Astra 2A at 28.2°E, NSS 7 at 22.0°W, Eurobird 1 at 28.5°E and the list seems to go on. The thing is none of these appear to be in the range of 40W and 160W. So can you actually get them? Thanks for any information, because I am completely lost with this thing.

I would prefer useful answers rather than flaming. See you around!

Welcome to the fun and exciting world of satellite television.

Unfortunatley, we are not able to view and European or Asian satellites in North America. We can get North American and most Atlantic satellites. Since you have C band, you have even a wider choice of FTA channels than just Ku.

I am not familiar with C-band much so I wouldn't be able to tell you how to work it and do your hook up but I am sure someone knows.

OK well right now what I am trying out is to see if I can pick up any of the FTA channels that are at 92 west because I have it connected to my little dish (I have ExpressVU) acording to lyngsat there are a few random free chanels I should be able to get. But right now nothing is working, I am using the Satcruiser DSR-101 and I think its to old to acomplish anything. Tomoro when there is sun out I will connect it up to the big dish.
