I'm into weather as a hobby and NOAA is converting their NOAAport satellite data feed to DVB-S. I'm trying to figure out how to get access to this signal. I know I can get the feed with a 3m dish, but am wondering if a smaller dish would do. Total reliability is not needed.
It is a
C band signal from GE Americom GE-4 Transponder 15C. The downlink is 3990 MHz, with a transmit EIRP of 58 dBW. At my location, north of Philly, PA, the receiving EIRP would be a little over 40 dBW.
I'm just starting to look into satellite technology, so any guidance would be appreciated.
