PBS Audio - AMC3

I have my Satcruiser 2040 system fully operational, finally. However, I notice on AMC3, 12110H, I get the PBS channels on video, but I am unable to receive any audio. I receve strong signals & good pictures.
CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME ON HOW TO TUNE THE AUDIO IN ON THESE CHANNELS OR HOW TO ADJUST AUDIO FREQ IN GENERAL ON DIGITAL SIGNALS? Thanks, Conchman

The audio is broadcast in AC3 (Dolby Digital) format and requires an AC3 capable receiver. The Satcruiser 2040 doesn't have that feature.

AC3 Audio - What Receivers?

Sometime ago, I asked the question regarding PBS Audio on AMC3 & understand that the audio is in AC3 format & my Satcruiser doesn't have that capability. Thanks.

However, can I be provided with a list of some newer digital or digital/analog receviers that have the AC3 audio compatability?

Thanks,
Conchman

The SatCruiser DSR-ACE does...

I'm not sure if Sadoun carries this model. It's a great little (literally) receiver -- I've installed lots of them.

Bobcat, Have you verified that yourself about the DSR-ACE?

OK: I'm looking at one right now - it has an optical output like a DVD player does. It says "SP/DIF" in the manual and says "To watch a program with a Dolby Digital soundtrack, connect the optical SP/DIF output on the receiver to the optical SP/DIF input of the external Dolby Digital product such as TV, amplifier, etc." NOW whether or not this receiver will process AC3 (which is 5.1 right?) or simply Dolby Digital 2-channel I don't know. I guess I could hook up one up to my motorized dish and my Denon DD receiver and try it. I'll report back with my findings. :?

Yes, please do. The 786NA has an S/PDIF digital output but it does not pass through AC3 datastream only PCM. So that's why I want you to make sure about that.

Well, the results are in and I guess I have to eat crow (yuk)

I tried both the SatCruiser DSR-ACE and an EmTech receiver (both with digital audio outputs) and neither one would pass Dolby Digital AC3 on the PBS channels on AMC 3. My Denon receiver did an auto lock on PCM when I connected the satellite receivers' optical output to it so I guess that answers that question...

But I discovered one neat thing -- digital audio sounds a heck of a lot better than standard audio even on regular stereo channels !! :P
