A Primestar dish works fine for DVB. Note that there are several
different types of LNBs that were installed on Primestar dishes. Most work just as is, but there's one that puts out separate horizontal and vertical signals, so you'll need to combine them using a standard
DTV-style
multiswitch.
If you have two outputs from the LNBF on your dish, use the
3x4
multi-switch. Otherwise, connect it directly to your receiver. Make sure to check the LO frequency for the LNBF. It should be 10750 (for standard LNBF 11.7-12,2 GHz range).
When you get the receiver, adjust your dish angles to lock on the signals. For Az/Elevation angles calculation, see:
