Activating FTA receivers

Being a typical male, I don't read instructions or ask for directions; thus, I apologize up front for any errors I make in posting this missive...
Some friends and I are looking to purchase FTV systems for personal use. My understanding is that most, if not all, of these systems are activated by "Keys." As with all things, these "keys" fall off on a randomly scheduled basis and new ones must be installed in your system in order to continue to receive satellite programming. My question is: Where does one get the new "keys" when the old ones die?

Welcome to the forum.

FTA receivers do not need "keys" to receive free-to-air channels. The question you have asked is related to illegally decrypting satellite signals; although from your post I gather you were not aware of this. Here is a clip from our Forum Rules...

WITH FTA RECEIVERS, YOU DO NOT NEED ACTIVATION OR SMART CARDS OR SIMILIAR DEVICES. IF THE SIGNAL IS A FTA SIGNAL, FTA EQUIPMENT WILL PICK IT UP AS LONG AS YOU ARE POINTING AT THE PROPER SATELLITE AND HAVE THE PROPER SETUP INFORMATION SET IN YOUR RECEIVER. MOST RECEIVERS ARE PREPROGRAMMED WITH THAT INFO AND IF NOT, IT IS AVAILABLE FROM THIS FORUM.
