It's a data transponder- you're going to find that a lot. They always scan in as radio channels, even though there's no audio to be heard. You'll also see "Channel 40000" and different numbers at times.

When doing a power scan I noticed that quite often a radio channel "20500" appears along with the other radio stations. I've tried to receive it, but no audio.
Anyone know what channel 20500 is?
Thanks.

Well thanks for the information, I thought maybe it was some kind of universal elevator music. It does come in handy if you want to tweak your dish a little to the East and West.
For example I had trouble getting RTV on 83W, only could get Ch 20500, so I save the transponder info for 20500, adjusted my dish using DiSeQC for the best quality for 20500, then re-tried a PowerScan, and voila I got Retro TV.
Spongella...did you use the signal strength and quality to do this as there is no audio. If so, this is a good tip for us. Thanks, that's what is great about this forum. Simple ideas that you just don't think of.
You have come up with some other ideas in the past, such as the patented thingy.

I like to shop at Sadoun Satellite sales.
Jim-S,
That's it exactly. Save the parameters for that transponder, go to "Antenna Setup" for the satellite with ch 20500, select the transponder, and adjust the dish ( I use Diseqc in this case) east or west. Whether there is video or audio does not matter, it is a radio signal. I adjust for the best signal quality, just like you would for any other transponder. Once you get the best signal for Ch. 20500, then re-do the Power Scan, and you may get more transponders simply because youhave optimized the dish position.

If your using Diseqc to move your dish (tweak) would it change position when you go back to Usals. Wouldn't the dish change position when you do this, Usals to Diseqc then back to Usals. Dosen't Usals have pre-programed positions.

Jim-S,
Well with the Fortec Star Dynamic receiver, I can switch back and forth from the two modes without one affecting the other. I use USALS just to get me in the general position, and if need be then I switch to DiSeQC and move the dish a little here and there, then save that position in DiSeQC.
This has saved me lots of time when for whatever reason the dish shifts due to high winds, weather conditions, etc. Instead of going out and trying to manually adjust it with a wrench and Satellite finder, I just do a little tweaking with DisEQc.
The only thing you can't do from inside the house is adjust the elevation, ha ha. Well it's time to hook up some kind of remote dish elevation adjustment. Back to the drawing board!!

Sounds great................maybe you could hook up a garage door opener to it, then you could use the remote. Problem with that is it would be hard to step it.
Sounds like a project for the Red Green Show on PBS.
