Hello All; I was wondering that if you could only get one bird , Is there one with the most channels to point at. Looking maybe for the bird that would offer the "closest" type of programming that is offered on pay tv,like 1 wild feed movie channel type or something like that. I realize that I probably am not explaining it right, but thought someone might be able to understand what I mean. I am in NE usa and can no longer afford the exorbitant prices of pay tv since i have become disabled. Any help at all would be deeply appreciated. I also have a coolsat 5000,a direct tv 18" dish and a DN500 system. Unfortunately I cannot afford another dish as I read needs to be at least 30".Is there any way to make one of these dishes work even if poorly as poorly will be better than nothing at all for the time being. I really appreciate any replys even if the news is not favorable. Thank you again

Most likely you will need a 36" dish in the NE. 18" may get you nothing, don't know for sure. You can get a motorized system for about $250. With what you have now, the coolsat and dish, you need to get a Linear or Universal LNB to test the reception. They start at about $15. With that, you can try to see what you can get with the 18" dish. May be a fun, or a hair pulling experience. Yes, Sat 97 has a good deal of programs. There isn't a good movie channel on this sat, but occasionally you can find a station showing a movie. 80% of the channels are either foreign or religious. There are several good news stations, and the BIO and History channels. Occationaly there is a good movie on the Kuwait2 station in English with arabic subtitles and all the kissing scenes taken out.

Shop around you can get a Ku lnb fairly cheap and a 30" dish as well. The shipping cost is the issue on the dish. I agree 97West has a lot of stuff on it. The Kuwait channel does have decent movies in the evenings too. 123West for now also is a good sat to get. Sometime soon many of the stations on 123W may be gone do to bankruptcy issues and pending sale of the stations. You might try thedish you have but I wouldn't bother with an 18" dish though. Blind
I used to use the c-band 10 foot dish. Will this work for fta? I still have it setup. I hope these aren't too stupid of questions, but I'm just not sure of anything. Thank You
Thank You ALL very much for your responses
