How can I make 2 remotes work with 1 dish?

We have Dish Network with DVR system that uses uhf remotes. I now have 2 remotes but can only make 1 work at a time. Is there a way to make both remotes work at the same time? I'd like to keep one on one table and one on the other (actually, I always seem to lose the D*mn remote when I need it most - so I'd like to have 2 that work without having to reprogram).

If this has already been answered somewhere, just point me to it, as I did a search and came up empty

    Thanks,

    Steve

If you have dual toner receiver that uses remote#1 (green) and remote #2(blue) you can make both of them work as remote #1 by taking out the blue piece at the bottom of the remote and flip it. If you want to use 2 remotes to operate on one receiver of dishnetwork you'll have to make sure they have the same remote address.
Press the sys info on the front panel of receiver> check remote address. to change the remote address press and hold the Sat button for 3 seconds. press any number from 001-016 and then press the * button. The remote address number should change to the number you selected. Do the same on the other remote and they will operate the same system.

Thanks for posting a reply. We have several receivers, but the one I'm dealing with is a single model that is hooked to one TV. It sits hidden so I need to use the UHF remote.

When I go to the System Info and try to change the remote address on my remote, it goes to either 3 or 7 no matter what I try to program. And if I try to make the second remote control go to the same address, the receiver changes the setting to either 3 or 7, but it will always be set to whatever the first remote control ISN'T set to. So in the end, I wind up with 1 remote set for channel 3 and 1 remote set for channel 7. And there seems to be nothing I can do about it. I cannot set the remote control to any other number, and I can never set both remotes to the same channel.

I'm not sure why this is, it just is. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Steve

See which model receiver you have and go to our remotes section. You can order a dublicate remote as your back-up. I have teenagers at home so I always have back-ups hidden so I don't have to hunt for them.
    Best regards

    Hi Steven,

I did order a new remote, which came in and works just fine. I can't find a model number on the receiver, but it is a Dish for 1 tv with the DVR in it.
The problem I have is that I can use either the new remote or the old remote, but not both at the same time. I am supposed to be able to pick an address for the remote, but that isn't the case. My receiver gives my remote the address of either 7 or 3, but won't let me pick any other number, and it won't let me put remotes on the same address.

    What gives?

Thanks for any and all help.

    Steve
