will this work? What will I be able to see?

Hi all, i just found out about fta receivers about 2 days ago and am very interested. I live in the Caribbean and recently bought a used disnetwork system with a 6 foot dish, lnb with 2 connectors so you can have two different cables from the dish and a dish 2700 receiver. The subscription that was left on the card expired last week so no more tv The local dishnetwork dealer wants to charge me almost US$1000!!!! for a new subscription. They can keep it, i will do without first.
I am mostly interested in the american networks and any news channels in english. What i want to know is if Galaxy 10R would be the best sattelite to point at. I looked at www.lyngsat.com and tried my best to understand it and I think galaxy 10R has the networks like upn, wb, cbs and abc and also bloomberg news. Could someone please tell me if I am right?
Also, do i need to just buy a receiver and hook it up and then I get tv? Will my existing lnb and dish work? Could it really be that simple?
Since finding about fta I have been all over the web looking for info and receivers and I want to get the fortec star lifetime as this seems to be the most popular and its not too expensive. I see Sadoun is out of stock but getting some more next month so will wait if it will work.
Thanks for any help you can give me

1. Yes, few network channels on FTA, but there is no garantee they will be there for good. That's the nature of this hobby. Just want to let you know in advance.
2. You need to find out if G10R cover your location. Below is the link which showing the footprint of G10R
http://www.panamsat.com/_media/globa...0r_ku_band.pdf
3. Dish can be used, but you have to replace the lnbf with a Ku one. The Lifetime was discountinued and replaced by the Ultra. I am not sure if Sadoun will be able to get them though.

Thanks dtsexpert.
Yes according to the beam link you sent me I should be okay, a weaker signal of course but still should be able to receive it. I am going to take a look at the ku lnb's and now to see what I need. If I need help choosing i will ask again.
Thanks very much for your help.
