still wet behind the diode ears

awhile back, I found on the curb, a dish 500, 2 lnbf still in box, probably an eviction, and last year my buddy gave me his old fortec star and said, "get on-line for aiming and get free to air", but I'm wondering if I will ever be able to with what I've got.
any advice?

you will need a bigger dish than the 500 to start with as this dish is not big enough for FTA I would recommend a 80cm dish at the least.
