Question dg280 power issue

I am planning to use the DG280 motor for driving a small solar panel tracker. To power the motor, I want to use 12vdc controlled by a solar tracker unit.
I have it temporarily hooked up to a 12vdc battery. The East and West buttons work, but both LED lights continue to flash and never shut off?? Any answers??
How do I get the motor to move on command? I am not using a LNB, so do I have to provide a dc voltage to the LNB connector to make the motor move?
Thanks, George.
