Comments and questions

Hey everyone. I'm new to the big dish arena and have been reading this forum as part of my self education. I have to say I have learned alot from reading the posts here and have found a lot of great info. My soon to be installed system consists of an Orbitron 7' mesh dish with a Von Weise actuator and Chaparral C/Ku feed horn acquired locally, a BSC621 and V-Box from Sadoun and a coolsat 6000. I bought the BSc621 because the coolsat won't control the polarizer on the Chaparral. I plan to upgrade to a new DSR922 and 4dtv after some time learning on fta. Now one question I can't find an answer to. Assuming I have good signal and everything is correct, what can I expect in picture quality with the big dish as compared to cable or Dish Network? I had Dish but they lied to me big time, long story, so I dropped them the first week I had it. Again I appreciate all the helpful info I have received from these forums.

The picture quality is better than the pizza dishes in my opinion.but it depends on what channel and how much it is compressed. Also you won't experience rain fade as bad with the big dish as you do with the little one.

I have always been able to spot a DN or cable feed which I guess would mean I can spot a big dish as well My experience has been depends on the channel but overall the PQ on a 4DTV system is far superior to DN and superior to DN HD. I do not have a HD decoder for my 922 but imagine it similiar to the PQ of OTA HD which is outstanding. The key is proper alignment and not just being close.
