Question Quality - Not Signal Quality

I was getting a signal of 80 and a quality of 70 from Bird 110 but still had no picture. I did do a channel scan and on some TP's I was hitting 99%.

No picture, what am I missing??? What is the minimum quality before I can get a picture. Does the STB have to set itself up once it has an acceptable signal and quality or is it instant picture once signal and quality reach a desired level....

not much FTA on 110 everything is scramble as this is a dish network sat. if you are using this as your true south sat for alignment get the best quality that you can get then move on to another sat that has channels in the clear like 123.

AMC3 is my true south satellite, does that have a lot of clear channels.

I was under the impression you could see all channels on any satellite and nothing was scrambled.

Amc 3 has several pbs channels in the clear if you are using a motor thats the one you want to align your dish on.

sorry true FTA won't get you all the channels just a rummor.

check LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite for a list of channels in the clear and what sats they are on.

Thanks. I will try to get a signal from AMC3. I wish this darn VS Ultra would display which satellite I was getting a signal from.

Lyngsat - Great site, how can I tell which channels are open and clear?
Are they marked with an indicator of some sort?
