    Multiple locations, one account

I'm fairly familiar with DirecTV, but I'm new to Dish Network. I have three different office locations throughout our state. I have three seperate Dish Network satellite dishes - one at each location. Is it possible to have one Dish Network account and three receivers on that account - connected to three different dishes in three different locations? The receivers don't care where they are - as long as they can receive signal from the satellite, correct?

It would save a bundle to have these all on one account.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Scott

what that is called is account stacking and that is illegal. Dish will find out. You'll get a call from the Dish nazi's (audit people) who will ask you to read off some numbers off the dish box. Problem is one of the numbers changes all the time so you can't just write it down. Then they suspend that receiver and pretty much you're screwed getting that box back up.

The best thing to do is call customer service and ask them about your specific situation.

Sounds like one more reason not to go with Dishnet. If I got a call from a sat company like that, I'd just hang up on them. I'd rather have no TV than an invasion of privacy like that. Even though DTV is not much better, I'd switch to DTV. From what I have seen, they don't do anything like that, and there would be no problem for me to put one of my receivers in another location, if I had another location.

    Dish nazis -- LMFAO !!!

Bell ExpressVu has an "official" policy of requiring multiple receivers to all be physically "under one roof" -- but they have no way of verifying this. To my knowledge they don't call customers to ask for numbers off the receivers. The only way they would find out is if you plug in the phone line and each receiver orders a PPV from a different phone number. Then you're pretty much fried...

For as much as I like to help out our members I simply do not have time to answer Private Messages or emails asking about setup and other general issues. Please post your questions in the forums and we will try to help you out. Thanks.

I think this topic came up once before, something about Dishnet insisting upon having you hooked up to a phone line or something. I know DTV asks you to hook up to a phone line, but you don't have to. I think when I was forced to move my Sunday Ticket subscription from C-band to DTV, that there was a suggestion that if I didn't connect to a phone line (so they could verify the blackouts), that I wouldn't be able to subscribe, however that didn't turn out to be a problem.
But apparently phone connections ARE a problem for Dishnet subscribers.

In my particular case, I have DN, with one 2 tuner receiver. It is counted as one receiver if I keep the phone line connected (no extra $5/mo multiple receiver charge)

If you were to register the subscription as "in an RV" or "I'm a trucker" I think you could move one receiver between multiple locations. Forget about multiple receivers being authorized on one account unless the bend the rules for you (which I doubt).

Even being an "rv/trucker" would be your bending the facts a bit...

With ExpressVu you can always move a single receiver between multiple locations - they don't mind you doing this. Lots of customers have a summer cottage and take their "city" receiver to the cottage for the summer. What Bell doesn't want you doing is having a receiver permanently installed in each location and having only one account. This is understandable because several friends or relatives could each have a dish and receiver and share one account. So for a trucker or RVer it shouldn't be a problem because you are only moving one receiver around.

That's what Bell would have you believe too. They will tell you that the receiver won't take the latest software updates and all kinds of other things. Its all crap. I've had my receiver operating just fine for years and never had it connected to the phone line - simply because I never order PPV movies. On installs I think I can count on one hand the number of people that actually have a phone jack anywhere close to the TV...

    Multiple Receivers

This is a subject that I am very familiar with. I have four Dish Network receivers and was audited by Echostar, the parent corporation of Dish. Although my audit was successful, I did find out the following:

It is NOT required that your receivers be connected to a phone line. However, as they explain it, if ALL receivers are connected, it allows them to test and verify that all are at the same location without a personal audit.

It IS their policy that all receivers on an account be used at the same location. IF you wish to use one receiver in an RV, they require a separate account.
