Long Distance Installation 400'+

I am a novice, looking for a system design for a long distance from the dish to the reciever. 400'+. I am hearing it can be done, but not by anybody in my area. I can certianly do the work, however I haven't a clue what equipment is needed. Amplifiers? Which ones and where in the lines. I had dish before the trees grew too tall so I would consider going back with them????
Thanks

Hi Jcraft- yes it can be done i have did about 5 or 6 of em longest was about 495 ft, an they were c-band and 2 where c&ku-band, and dont know what kind of dish you are plannig? you will need to up grade youre coax, and wire going that far.now on the longest 1 i did that customer wanted c&ku so i ran 2 feeds of 500 hard line to the dish, with a pedastall box at about the 1/2 way out. and be prepaired to spend a lot of $ to do it. good luck Captain

It just so happens that this weekend I did a test to see what impact long RG6 cables would have on my setup. I am planning to move my dish to its permanent home in the spring, that is further out. I have a viewsat 9000HD connected to a Stab HH120 motor and Fortec Star 1.2M dish. I have an Invacom LNB. (2 linear and 2 Circular outputs) The output of the motor (marked to LNB) goes to a 9x8 EMP Switch (receiver #1)via 54ft cable. The 4 cables from the LNB go to the switch (cable length 54ft ea). The cable length to the motor from receiver is 319ft. My original setup had the cable to the motor at 179ft. Basically I added 140 foot cable to the run. The dish positioning worked just as before (using USALS). The signal Q dropped about 6% with the extra 140 foot cable. The receivers that were connected to the switch had no signal loss when i inserted the extra 140 foot cable. My furthest run from receiver to switch was 330 feet, no signal loss.

Thanks
