Question Bad DiSEqC switch

How can I test a DisEqC switch. If the switch is good, shouldn't I loose all signal on a satellite if I choose lnb 3 and have only 2 lnbs connected.
Will the Mercury II receive Ku signals on a C lnb?

Still working in my missing X4 satellite on my DSR 922. Trying to make absolutely sure I can receive Ku on my FTA.

Thanks,

Depends on what ports you have it connected to.

As I recall I tried this and it did not switch and I did not lose the signal. It is possible the Mercury and/or switch is "smart" and will not allow switching to a connection with nothing on it???

And these things can be in software. Another receiver may allow you to do this because it is designed differently??? I don't know.

Anyway I FIRST set up my dishes/LNB's with direct coax connections and get sats and channels. THEN ADD in the diseq switch to the mix. Then the switch should switch to see the channels if set to the correct LNB, but not see the channels/signal meter if set to the other LNB.

Note: I noticed a bug with the Mercury software version 0151 where it would not switch the diseqc switch properly. There were other problems with this version as well. I went back to version 0145 and everything works OK.

Switch

Tomorrow, I am going to disconnect the C side of my switch and see if I can receive signals on the Ku side. If need be I will bypass the switch until I isolate the problem.

Thanks,

I can not remeber, are you using one of teh BSC lnbf's? If so I found I could only get C band from the BSC lnbf through port 1 of the external DiSEqC switch. Perhaps a connection with Ku as well if you are using that type of lnbf.

Switch

I have a C-band lnb on port 1 and a Ku lnb on port 2. What I really want to make sure of is that the Ku lnb is working. Tomorrow after church I will disconnect the C band side and check to see if I can receive Ku channels.

Remove the switch and work with a direct connection. That will say right away if it is in the switch or not.

I have received a new DiSEqC switch from Sadoun. When I set up the antenna menu in the Mercury II, do I set the the 22 kz tone to on?

Thanks,

Talking Surrendered

I have surrendered on the DiSEqC switch. I received a new one from Sadoun. I installed the switch, C-band comes in fine, but no Ku. I removed the switch and put in an a/b switch. I get C-band and Ku band.

I read some where on this forum that if the switch is real close to the receiver it will not work. That may be my problem, but I really don't want to rerun all of my cables to accommodate the switch. I can get up and turn the switch when I want to switch from C to Ku.

Thanks for every body's help.

The switches are cheap enough that if you got a couple more you'd probably find one to work. I have one switch I've been using for years, that's only 3' from the receiver, but had another one that wouldn't work near the receiver, but when I moved it outside on the dish worked fine. These crazy DiseqC switches are a mystery.
