In considering the features in getting a new system I'm questioning the dish size I would truly need. I live in southern lower Michigan by the Indiana/Ohio/Michigan state line. I would primarly like to use my hh system to scan for new channels, transponder changes,FTA signals on any of the Echostar sat's present or in the future.I also might like to get G4(Goodlife TV) and AMC 3(PBS Kids) and by the way how much would a Dolby decoder cost? I'm hoping you will say a 80cm dish would be enough to accomplish this, for I am worried that a 90cm dish would look huge on my ranch style home(on my roof is my only good look angle).Thank you for any and all comments,Mike
First go to the satellite map.ex?:
find the number that you are is included in. after that go to the chart you didn't understand and see the ku one.
For ex in Washington satate the number is 50. in the chart the number 50 correspand a 55 cm dish size.
For your area, an 80CM dish would be sufficent. Of course, 90CM would be better
The quality level difference in slightly bigger dishes is astounding... this one custie bought a 1 meter Wingard dish and I installed it for him. The quality reading was in the 90's -- on Telstar 5 for the Southern Ontario region -- I usually get quality readings in the 30's and 40's with the 80 cm Wingard pan -- that small jump of 20 centimeters in dish diameter more than doubled the quality -- blew my mind.
