help with choosing lnb

Hi I'm new to all this. I'm a directv subscriber and was having trouble with rain fade and trees and stuff, so I bought a Fortec Star 36" FTA Dish. I have read that it is compatible with directv, is that correct? If it is not, what dish should I get? Also, I have 2 receivers so I was wondering if someone could point me towards a compatible LNB. I bought a sadoun universal lnb and it didn't work... later I found out that it does not work with dss. Thank you!

Well...

Well, what exactly are you trying to achieve???? If you just want to reduce fade, mount your Dish LNB on it, aim, and you're done..

Yes, I am trying to reduce fade. The problem is that I think I bought the wrong LNB, so I wanted to know which one to get. I don't think I can use my old LNB because it is not the proper type for the dish mount.

So I guess my question is what LNB should I get that works with 2 receivers for directv and this particular dish?

Pick one.. All these will work.

DishNetwork DishPro, Plus, Legacy LNB LNBF Dual Single DSS Standard and Universal

I imagine you need a dual...

the bottom line issue, is the LNBF holder for the dish he now has
HOLDERS FOR LNB LNBF Dual Single DSS Standard and Universal

does not match well with the Dishnetwork type LNBF's.

I dont know if there's a direct replacment holder. Might have to fabricate something to make it work.

if you want a lnbf that works with linear sats and circular sats get the QPH-031 it will work with both types of signals.

One consideration though, is whether he's trying to replace a single sat DTV system or a multi-sat system. If he's currently getting HD or locals on another satellite besides the main 101, then a single lnbf won't work. However if he only has the plain 101 only setup, then yes.

They sell both linear and circular LNB's If the LNB did not work you must have got a linear. They sell a circular that looks the same and will mount on the LNB holder with that dish. The circular LNB is for the dss signals

You need a circular lnb with a 40 mm nick to fit the lnb holder of the Fortec dish. Older DTV lnb will work best. try ebay.

Thank you for all the suggestions. It is just a plain standard Directv setup. I ended up ordering this one:

http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/S/DSL2-Sadoun-DSS-Dual-LNBF.htm

We'll see if it works. Thank you again everyone.
