I'm not in FL, but just north of you and I receive 30w fine. Had to do a blindscan on it to get most everything though (do an ALL blindscan).

You should be able to receive 30 from FL with no problems at all.

Lets put it this way....Below is a picture of my Hispasat dish
I am in MN where the elevation is around 9 and I can get it with good results...so you shouldnt have any issues in Florida

In Florida you should be able to receive most satellites and specially 30W. So don't worry. Make sure you check the azimuth and your line of sight to the satellite. If clear, then you should be fine. If anything blocking the signal (i.e. trees, buildings, etc), then you will not be able to receive it.

i made a huge miscalculation when choosing my site. 30 degrees is just obstructed at current location of dish. dag! just another 2 or 3 feet out and i would have it. my hope is that when my c band goes up i will receive it. this makes me sooo angry with myself.

Nice pic, Iceberg... looks like your dish is pointing down into your roof... hehe.. just kidding... I know the angle of the dish is misleading. hehe...
Anyways, folks near the East Coast are so lucky to pick up sats further east than typically around 62w as listed in Lyngsat, typical for North America...
I wish us West Coast folks could pick up any sats past 148w.. doh.. those sats are aimed mainly at Asia and Australia area...
So, does anyone know how far east past 62w can someone living in say the Pac NW area can get?

30 is all on Ku to my knowledge. A cband setup would benefit you nothing is regards to 30

Yes that would be true. Was not thinking of it that way. Honestly though if you are going to go through the expense of doing a 6' dish I think you would be happier with a 8.5'. I got my last 2 8.5' dishes for free. Both came with the poles and feedhorns. One was a complete C Band dish (lnb, servo motor & actuator), the second had no actuator, servo motor or lnb. Both dishes are getting the BSC lnbf so feedhorn/lnb/servo motor did not matter to me. I have a spare actuator laying around somewhere and hope I can find it to put on the dish when I put it up. If not since it is a stationary mount for the time being I will just build a rigid bar to take the place of the actuator.

oh yeah! i am now convinced that the six footer i wanted would not work very well. i am eyeing a nice looking 8.5 footer that shouldnt cause too many ripples with the home owners association.

a piece of thread rod would work great for this Steve that way you can fine tune east and west.

I'm in Atlanta and get Hispasat as well, though not as well as I'd like. I'm curious- with a 90cm dish and a clear shot to the satellite, should I be seeing signal drops? My signal level is around 45-55, and I'm getting pixellated video and audio peeps at times.

something doesnt sound right. I have a smaller dish than that in Minnesota and get 65-70 on most transponders. There are a couple weak ones like Supershow and stuff but the 3 main ones are 70 quality on my Pansat 1500

30 has proven a very strong sat here in IN even on a 76cm dish.

Should I be able to get this Hispasat bird with my 36" fortec dish? I'm on the Okla Arkansas line at zip 74937. Everytime I tell my dish to go to this bird it just goes to the zero position. I can how ever move it manualy east, to where I believe it is far past that point. Didn't know if it was just below the Horizion from my end?
thanks
