Also, not all receivers indicate signal and quality the same, and even the same receiver with different firmware give different levels. I have one receiver that on a given transponder might give me an 80, while on the same signal on another receiver I might get 25. So the 66 quality readings may be good or may be bad, depending on the receiver, and I don't remember reading what receiver you have.

Also, with a small dish, signal doesn't mean much, because it is the sum of the signal you are looking for plus signal from 2 or 3 nearby sats, plus general sky and system noise. And quality is also affected by interferrence from nearby sats, so two transponders that are the same signal strength might be dramatically different quality if there are nearby signals from nearby sats. Also, I've found that narrow signals sometimes show up as having higher quality than wide (high SR) signals. So if you're comparring signal/quality levels, you should compare signals of similar SR values.

Bottom line, the absolute values of these levels don't mean much, as long as you can lock, but the changes in level are important when aligning the dish.

I guess I am just so used to finding 110/119 so easily and having 97+ signal/quality all the time. Everything seems to be pretty good now, but I still don't know why I can't get all of 97w. I'm afraid to touch it now that it's working pretty well for me.

I want to get TP 19 on 97w for the music channels. I remember having those music channels back when I had DirecTV many years ago.

Oh and I hear a lot of people talking about this DiSEqC Switch "CHIETA 4x1 DiSEqc WSD-2041" and how good it is. So I bought one the other day. I'm not even sure if the one I have is causing problems, but I said what the heck I'll replace it anyways.

have you tried doing an advance scan for just that TP sometimes they won't all pull in on a blind scan.

I have gone into the manual scan and selected that transponder, however it doesn't seem to have any signal. Tonight I'm going to put the Universal Ku LNBF on that came with the dish and see what happens. Plus I'm going to remove the DiSEqC switch.

Also, try the manual scan page again, but check to see if the SR value is in fact 22000, and not 20000. I think that transponder used to have an SR of 20000, and your receiver might have obsolete SR values, which would prevent you from getting a lock.

I just checked and it does have the SR as 22000. I got home late and I don't think I will be going up tonight, maybe tomorrow. I'll take the DiSEqC Switch off and see what happens. I will then try using the Universal Ku LNBF the dish originally came with. I will also see about moving the elevation of the dish 1 degree up or down.

I knew I wouldn't be able to keep myself off the roof tonight. Anyways I tried taking the DiSEqC Switch off the line (now it's direct to the LNBF) and the results are exactly the same. I also tried moving the dish elevation 1 degree up and then down. Seems like it being down helped a little, very little. I also put the Universal Ku LNBF on and the results are exactly the same.

So now all I have left to try is moving the entire setup left or right and see if it's the true south that is my problem.

*update*
Alright I have moved the entire setup left and then right and it did not help me at all. The signal I am getting is the best I can achieve at this point. Maybe I should get another receiver. I am using a Coolsat 6000 right now. Any thoughts?

If you are intense on readings you might be chasing nothing. Every receiver displays differently. I do not have a Coolsat but my BEC will not lock below a reading of 50. My Fortec will lock around 20. Do not remember the Coship numbers. If you have clear watchable tv you are good. If you are missing tp's it could be a multitude of things. When installed and the motor at 0 the coax input of the lnbf should be pointing straight down.

As simple as it sounds you are using the L port of the lnbf for L sats? When you swapped lnbf's you did remember to change the settings in the receiver to a UNI lnbf? If you are not setting this thing with the receiver and a small tv at the dish you are just going to end up chasing your tail. The slighest movement will greatly alter everything. You simply can not do this by moving the dish going back in the house and checking system. You need to see what is going on at the point of your movements.

Yes I was using the L port on the Invacom LNBF and when I switched to the Universal I did change the settings in the receiver. I am getting 66-70 quality on quite a few transponders on a bunch of satellites. So I am able to watch the channels now. However I am missing transponders on 97w.

I am happy with what I have now. Before I was getting 63ish and the channels would be all broken up and not viewable. Now I can actually watch the channels. I was watching some live feeds from ABC, was pretty funny. The lady messed up a few times and was fixing her boobs .

97 w has been shifting channels around lately so you may not be missing them. they may not be there anymore alot of the Chinese channels have moved to other sats or just disappeared.

It was me, I have posted a pic of a movie shown on Supershow (this movies are translated to spanish or otherwise subtitled in spanish when translation is not available). Most of the channels on Hispasat 30w are FTA, "Supershow" and "Superland", going by the spanish regional accent, are from Argentina. My receiver does not decipher, so I imaging they are for free, at least until future changes, as those channels are television ad free and owned by AMC (parent company). Now, the interesting things is that channels from the middle east and Cuba are showing movies in english with subtitles in arabic and Spanish, so english speaking people should not have a problem understanding it.

Can someone confirm that TP 19 (12053 V - SR 22000) is alive on 97w?

I wonder why I can't get that one. It must be very weak then?

No, not weak. From spectrum scan:

On my system, it's one of the stronger transponders on the sat. Perhaps there is some interferrence from nearby sats causing trouble.
