I agree that 3rd party software is much much much more user friendly than the software that comes with the Starbox, but if you are planning to run
HD, I think HD will work better using the
Twinhan software, which did work for me, but was a real pain to use. For low speed HD though, any software works, so you're better off using ProgDVB or Mytheatre. The thing that annoys me though, is that my favorite 3rd party software (TSREADER) doesn't work with the Starbox. This is the main reason I haven't used my Starbox much since I got it.
The other big problem with the Starbox though, is that it is the least sensitive receiver I have seen. I can take a signal that locks in fine with any of my other FTA receivers, and the Starbox can't lock on the signal due to being too weak. On strong signals, the Starbox works fine, but on any weak signal it won't. I run my ULTRA receiver slaved off my analog system, and my 1020a is slaved to the Ultra, and the Broadlogic is slaved off the 1020a, and all work fine on virtually all transponders. But I can't seem to slave this Starbox thing off anything. It seems to need such a strong signal that it can't tolerate any loss of signal at all.
