Here you could discuss what is available as FTA American channels on satellite. No discussion of hacking encrypted channels or know how related to that matter is allowed. Discuss only channels that have been listed publicly on lyngsat. Non-public FTA channels should be discussed in the New Finds forum only.

As I look at the various American satellites that are beamed to the United States on the lyngsat website, I have noticed that there are many transponder frequencies on these satellites that carry wild fees that are shaded in grey.

I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to manually program all these transponder frequencies on a specific satellite even though they are not active 100% of the time or whether it is better to just do a recurring blind scan every so often to pick up what is presently active. I feel that if these wild feed frequencies are already programmed into a specific satellite, when I do an occasional transponder scan, they would probably kick in as active after such a scan.

I would like to hear some comments on this.

Has yet another FTA channel gone away? RTV's transponders on AMC 9 are silent and folks on the station's Facebook page are complaining that even their local RTV affiliates are running infomercials and substitute programming.

A check of the RTV website shows business-as-usual, but I have to wonder if the station ran into money problems, technical problems, or both.

With the shutdown of KUIL, all the Equity channels, and White Springs, the FTA "pickin's" are getting slimmer all the time! :(

Now I'm confused...I love hearing the DMX residential music service on what they (DMX) say is on "Galaxy 11, tp13". But if I aim my dish so that I can receive it, everything which is on what Lyngsat calls "Galaxy 17" disappears (Jewelry TV, etc...not compelling viewing but a good signal to aim for). Lyngsat has something called "Galaxy 11" on the other side of the world at 32E or something. There is no corresponding listing for DMX music service on Galaxy 17, tp13 on Lyngsat. What gives?

My favorite satellite has become AMC-21 at 125W--ever since the Galaxy 18 offerings at 123W shrunk down to nothing. The problem is that I am only getting 3 channels on AMC-21. According to the list at FTAList.com - AMC 21 Channel List I should be getting the following:

Create TV	12180-V 30000	193 196	PBSC
Montana Legislature 11959-H 2532	33 38
Montana PBS 12103-V 4340	33 38	KUFM
PBS 12180-V 30000	177 180	PBS-X
PBS HD 12140-V 30000	49 52	PBSEHD
PBS HD 2 12140-V 30000	65 68	PBSDT-W
PBS HD 3 12179-V 30000	49 52
PBS World 12180-V 30000	225 228	WGBXDT2
WSEE CBS Erie PA 12004-H 4691	308 256	WSEE
V-Me 12180-V 30000	209 212	V-ME

I do pick up

Create TV (PBSC)
V-Me
PBS World

without any trouble. They come in clearly. I also get two more that don't seem to be on this list and are always off the air:

PBS NOC HD01 12180-V 30000
PBS NOC SD01 12180-V 30000

Sometimes I have picked up

Montana PBS (KUFM)

I don't seem to be able to pick up the other six:

Montana Legislature
PBS (PBS-X)
PBS HD (PBSEHD)
PBS HD 2 (PBSDT-W)
PBS HD 3
WSEE CBS Erie, Pa.

ever. Is this normal? My motorized FTA system does fine with other satellites from my location in W.Va. I have read conflicting reports about this satellite. Some say it is really at 124.9W. Others say the dish must be nudged west a little. I should add that there is a tree to the right of the line-of-sight that looks like it partially blocks the signal. Can I rule it out though since I can pick up White Springs TV at 129W?

Thanks in advance.
