I can't get a reading after inputting the location into the receiver. The location for my area is: Latitude 34.1804 degrees, Longitude -92.2957 degrees. The negative number is throwing me off and I have been entering 92.2 degrees for longitude and I wonder if I am doing something wrong here. I didn't see anything to represent a negative sign on the remote. Can anyone assist me with this?

My location:

Hello,

I have attempted to install the above equipment resulting in Signal Level of 70 and a Signal Quality that bounces between 25 to 50. The dish is mounted on a wall overlooking a cornfield, the nearest obstacle is an electrical transformer station about a half mile away and a power line, nothing very tall. Everything is plumb. I'm trying to get Galaxy 19 so we can watch Ethiopian TV. I bought a good compass, bubble level, the whole kit.

I know that a Signal Quality bouncing between 25 and 50 isn't very good. A channel scan yields nothing, but the Signal Quality will be as high as 85 at times during the scan (it's red, should it show green?).
I ran a blind scan and came up with the following three channels: 0100 FTN 5.8594, 0101 FTN 5.8594, and 0102 ETN 5.8594. They don't produce a picture or sound, but I get a signal level and quality of 70 with green bars.

Could I be missing any steps with the equipment I have? It just seems that if I could get those 3 junk channels that strong, and I get signal quality that high during a scan I should be downloading channels from the satellite. Thank you in advance for your advice.

Hi,
I have and also for some of my clients help them with their satellite systems. (I am involved with horse Racing and the systems are all the rtn.tv they are live horse racing channels)
To give all the basics of them, they either use an old Dish box with a card or a special Card less box. The dishes point to G3 on the Ku band. If the system was bought complete from RTN they use New Old Stock, Primestar dish and LNB. I have over the years helped friends/clients get up and running on used equipment as it is expensive to have $100 a month and there is some turnover at that cost so we buy the boxes used and get a new dish. My dish supply has been the 36" Fortec Stars. That's the setups in a nutshell.
I am currently using a box with a Fortec Star 36" as well as another setup using the same setup that I am having problems with. I was told that after a strong wind they stopped getting a signal. I went over and checked it out and could not get a signal using my Birdog, I thought a tree in the LOS might be the cause. We moved the Dish still no signals. I have tried 2 other LNB's no dice. The best I get is a 72 on the signal and no quality. This dish is mounted on the ground with an in ground mast. Also the young son lives in an attached apartment on the house and has a couple parties a year. (They get going) If I was to guess I would say that the Sat Dish got some beer tweaking along with the wind.

Short of buying a new Dish how can I further troubleshoot this? I have done this setup 6 times and have done a few realignments of this setup as well as installed a few Dish Network setups, so I am pretty familiar with pointing to the birds especially w95 galaxy 3. Any thoughts on why I get signal up to 72 and not able to dial in Quality? Any way to check that my arm and mount is aligned and not out of alignment? measurements?

Help!

Thank You

Michael
