Please help!!! Superdish 121 weak signal & missing TP's

Hello to the forum. I have set up a dish 121 and have peaked 110 & 119 birds with signal strength over 110%, the problem i have is the 121 bird, althouh i have locked the signal is low at 50-63% only on a few transponders 1, 4, 13, 15 16, 25, i can get the home TP 21. Couple times i did tuned into TP 21 with max signal 45% but i lost other TP's? I use RG6 and replaced the cable 3 times without a change. I have the dish mounted on the site of my house, straight across about 70 feet where the dish points is a house and is taller do you think i need to elevate the dish higer and clear any obsructions? why the 119 and 119 are over 100% Thanks in advance for your help.

if your dish is well set, skew ,and you said you getting over 110 signal on 119
you shouldnt have any probleme,do not worry about all tp ,if you getting over or around 80 signal on tp 12&6 you good to go

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean TP 12 & 6 on th 119 Bird? Like i said 110 and 119 birds are over 110% i will checj 12 & 6. Any reason why i get only a few 121 TP's? Each bird was a direct connection to the receiver bypassing the switch (dp44 i ordered it) and when i did a check switch it was giving me an OK status.

kostas ti kanis, the problem you are having with 121 is that the satellite you are trying to get you will need a Ku LNB (Universal) you will not get the internationals with a standard LNB. And as far as moving the dish I wouldn't because the satellite signals come more or less strait down not from an angle.

huh?

A Universal is only need for PAS9 in the US & Canada. He needs a standard LNB and if he has a Superdish, it is already on there.

You need to peak the dish on 121, not 119 or 110. Since 121 is a lower powered satellite, you need to peak on that 1st. If the elevation and skew is right, the other 2 fall into place

Guys thanks for your help. I do have the DISH PRO Superdish LNB and the 119 DP and 121 fss LNB's. Yesterday i relocated the dish about 24 inches higher from the original mounting and after peaking 110 and 119 over 100% signal strength i tried peaking the 121 fss bird. I did manage to get a max signal of 71% on TP 15 on the home TP 21 the max i got was 43%, TP 1 at 40% TP 2 at 38% TP 14 at 42 TP 16 at 44% alhough this time i was able to get more TP's to come in the on my original install. Also i run a check switch going through my DP44 and and a system status of my 121 satellite is OK (GREEN BOX) all feeds odd and even but my signal is low. I think the dish needs to clear my neighbors house (its about 60 feet from the dish) in order to get a higher signal strenght. As i said on the original install (mounted on the site of the house)i was 16 feet from the ground and i was getting only 3 TP's when i moved up to 18 feet i got about 14 TP's and an OK/green DP44 Status. What are you thoughts, do i need to go higher and clear the house? or get another LNB? By the way the dish is alligned and plumbed perfectly. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Kostas

I would try and Peak the signal on 121..forget about 110 & 119. As long as the skew is set right, those will fall into place.

The 110 & 119 wil have some leeway for error since they are higher powered satellites. You may not get 120+ on those signals but you'll get 121 up a little better.

Thanks Iceberg. I will peak the 121 using my Birdog. Dont you think i need to mount the dish higher from its current hight in order to clear the neighbors house? I have a pretty low EL 20 AZ at 257 and Skew at 130 and the dish does not clear the roof of the neihboring house (about 40 feet), faces right into it. I think i need to clear the roof and the signal will increse. Does that sound good?

Thanks

since the dish is offset, it actually looks 22 degrees higher than what you aim at. So it may look like you're aiming into the neighbors house but you might be overshooting it

the signal comes at 22 degrees higher, hits the dish, and bounces to the LNB

That is why if you've seen a C-band dish (Prime Focus) those are aimed higher. They dont have the offset to work with.

Thanks again for your advice. Factoring in the 22 deegree higer offset i think i still cant clear the house or like you said i might overshooting it. But why the 110 and 119 come over 110% and the 121 averages like 42%- 48%? is it because 110 & 119 is a direct beam and no offset? So i have no choice but to mount the dish higher and clear the neighbors house. What do you think? move the dish higher and clear the neighbors house/roof.

Thanks

110 & 119 are higher powered satellites. DBS satellites are much higher powered and have to be at least 9 degrees spacing (110, 119, 129, 91, 82, etc)

KU Band (which the 121 satellite is) is lower powered and that is why you need the bigger dish. If you have a 80 signal or a 120 sigtnal on 110/119 thats no difference unless ity starts raining. But the 121 you would want to get every point out you can.

Is there specific channels on 121 you are needing? Reason I ask is if you tune to the transpnoder and peak, if the others are bad no biggie as the channels you paid for are on X transponder

Thanks again, the channels that i am interested are coming in on TP 16 of the 121 FSS i did think of that and i did tried focusing on that TP and the max i could get get it was 51% the best on a sunny day, once it starts rainning it will drop and would loose the signal no question about it. I do have the option of mounting the dish higher on my house and clear the neighbors roof peak it will take extra effort to clime up 30 feet on a latter an walking on a slade roof with a superdish.

Thanks

Aw Darkman.... you spoiled all the fun...

I was asking a very leading question like Rainman would do trying to get ymmas to incriminate himself. Rats... (Is that considered entrapment??)
