DP twin lnb acting as a single lnb

In setting up all Dishpro components for four DishPro recievers, is there any reason a twin DP lnb couldn't be used as a single on my dish 300 sat by capping off the unused side? In other words, I have a legasy 500 twin converted to Dish Pro, a DP34 switch, but I don't have a DP single lnb to attach to the second 148 satellite, but I do have another twin.

I know that alone the twin acting as a single gave me a signal acting as a single lnb but other issues seemed to crop up in the configuration and I'm trying to rule out the incompatibility of the described configuration before I begin blaming signal loss on other components.

If the other twin you have is DP, it should work. Twin connected to DP 34 does not use the internal switch. It uses the DP34. That's why yo get 1 cable from each lnb to get signal on 110 and 119.
