Dish 1000 Trouble-4 Trips Later---PLEASE HELP!

I've been unfortunate with the Dish 1000 installs for some reason.

I'm in the Wausau, WI market. At first install, I was able to receive all Satellites...110, 119, and 129. After a week or so, my customer was having trouble receiving locals. As the dish was mounted where the old DirecTV dish was installed (lower on the guys roof), it seemed to me it wasn't receiving a strong enough signal because the peak of the roof might be in the way. So, we moved it to the peak...still no luck...we were only receiving 110 & 129. As it was getting dark, we decided to keep it there for the night. Later on, his 625 Receiver was receiving 119 & 110 only, but the 811 Receiver was only pulling in 119! There were some tall trees that could've been in the way, so we decided to mount it on the ground, clear of any trees or obstructions.

So, we moved it to the front yard and got 129, and 119, but no 110 on both receivers...very wierd. Isn't 110 the highest in the sky?

I hooked up our satellite meter, and it locked in on 110 and 119, and peaking on 129 @ 99 percent (I'm not sure if I had the correct 129 satellite dialed into my meter as its new, but it did not lock in on sat., however, I'm receiving the channels that are broadcast on sat. 129 on both receivers, so I'm assuming I have a lock.

The other wierd thing is when we do a "check switch", on input 1 it shows we have 129, input 2 119, and input 3 conn, but no lock. I've never seen 129 on input 1...it's supposed to be on input 3. I know I have this wired correctly as I've done a number of them before. Also, the LNB's only fit on the dish one way. I've replaced the LNB's, cables, done multiple resets and check switches on the satellite and just have been running out of luck, and probably my customers patience. Please help!

Here's some screen shots of what I'm receiving on the 'check switch'.

have you tried different lnbfs? receivers have current software? dish 100 should automatically peak when u find dish 500 angles. Have you swapped receiver locations? any multidish switches? dp34 maybe? i think it may be the swiktch if there is a dp34..

Thank you so much for the reply. should I be peaking it out at Dish 500 angles? I'm peaking it out on Superdish angles, assuming this is the closest to the new Dish 1000. The Dish 1000, I thought, has the switches built-in to the lnbf's. And yes, I did try replacing them. when you ask does it have current software, ilm not sure where to check to see if it's current other than the menu...i'm assuming it is becaue we've done several downloads fromthe satellite. is there a way to manually do an update on the 811 or the 625? I didn't switch the receiver locations...should I?

thanks again and hope to hear back from you so we can diagnose this....I've been getting just terrible support from Dish Network tech's....i literally had one hang up on me after I told him Dish should hire some techs that can diagnose issues as this. they just say...call your technician. I am the technician! Anyway, your help is appreciated.

go to dishnetwork.com and click on troubleshooting then tech portal, all the receiver troubleshooting steps are there, the same thing reps see is what we see. Software for the 625 should be l258 or l259. I need to ask them if you need to have superdish checked. I was told today you need to get sat 119 first then 110 automatically sat 129 comes out. 129 is next to 121. if you need more help call the tech line at dish and ask for "advanced tech" they wil identify you as a "power user" because u are very knowladgeble and will help you alot, if one agent cant help ask for a supervisor to help you how to get the dish 1000 pointed. message me if u need more info anjd ill get some more tech tips from them.

The dish 1000 uses different angles thana superdish....In the box for the 1000 there is a book with all the angles of the dish 1000 for your zipcode.... From what you are saying I would say that it is either the skew and elevation are off

Get the book. then set the elevation and skew then tune it in off the 129. once you are on the 129 then check 119 and 110....Superdishes we usually tune in off the 119.. But I find on the 1000 that tuning in off the 129 is easiest.
Also what kind of meter are you using? If you are going to be doing alot of these I suggest you get a birdog. It will make the install 100 times easier.
The acutrac, satbuddies, ect are all good meters and will do the job but if you are having problems and can afford one the birdog will take the guessing out.

P.s I just looked at your pics....You are not on the correct sat...
The duel feeds the 129 the twin feeds the 119 and 110. You need to
turn the dish left about 3 degrees and adjust the elvation.

thank you, both of you for your advice. i'm going to adjust the sat and let you know the outcome...this is the exact help I'm looking for. it would really be nice to know troubleshooting tips like this when you're on an install! i.e. how much angle of view do I need in between trees for a clear view of the sats, how many degrees do I need to turn the sat if i'm not locking in on 1 of them, etc. thanks.
By the way, I'm using the Signaloc Pro. I believe its the same as Birddog's smaller unit. On my meter, it doesn't show echostar 129 as an option...just Telstar 129. I get a strong signal strength, but no 'found satellite'. I'm assuming because it's not finding echostars 129.

Well, to make a long story short, I did the adjustments and it still did not pull in the 110 sat. so, I replaced the LNB'S FOR THE SECOND TIME, thinking maybe I had two bad battches...SURE ENOUGH that was the problem. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the bad ones had blue inside the F-connectors, and the ones that worked had the white inserts. now I need to figure out how to get dish to reimburse me for the 5 trips out there, 30 min in each direction.

If you install the dish. dishnetwork requires that you support your installation for 180 days. I know it was an lnb problem, but they do not consider that. Also you will have to request an "AR" to return the bad lnb's and get credit for them. It happened to me with a bad 625 receiver. That's why I know.
Good luck.

Very frustrating. I had a similar problem when we were using 105 SD here in Columbus. Found out I had tapped into a bad batch of reflectors!
