Splitter verses dual LNB

Why would you use dual lnb's and run 2 cables to your house if you can use Satellite cable splitter to 2 receivers ?

Thanks

Because satellite splitters only allow the high frequency signal to pass through; they do not pass the DC voltage that controls LNB polarity. So what happens is that one receiver "takes control" of the LNB and prevents the other receiver from switching the LNB polarity. The result is that the second (or "slave") receiver will only receive the channels that are available on the same polarity that the first (or "master") receiver is using.
Bottom line; you only get about half the channels on the second receiver.
