Hey newbie. go back and read the post directly above yours and decide if you really want to ask that question.

Hey Kevision, Relax, I am not hacking into anything. I just want to get FTA channels for my kid's bed room.

Unless your kid needs the self-esteem boost of staring at a "Congratulations! You are pointed at DishNetwork 121" card, I'm not sure why you would want to do this.

If you are attempting to get FTA from nearby satellites that might fall within the view of the Superdish, then you would need to place a separate LNB off to one side. It would require some playing around, but you wouldnt need any switches, it would connect directly to the pansat.

Thanks, I need to be educated about this stuff. You said I have to buy another LNBF but didn't say what type, can you tell me what type, manufacturer, model please. someone recommended Dishpro dual LNBF, or Invacom QPH-031 and both are expensive, I don't want to buy it and find out it doesn't work. I am using Pansat 3500s.

Thanks again

It all depends on WHAT satellite you would actually like to receive. As kevision said, there is no FTA on Echostar 9.

yes, let's start from there. What are you trying to recieve? The reason I didnt suggest specific equipment is because that arrangement (superdish pointed at dishnetwork locations) is a rather poor FTA platform. I've never tried it, but you might theoretically put an LNB somewhere in there to get 1 or 2 nearby satellites. It's really an experimental thing to do.

If you are really interested in FTA the easiest thing to do would be to get any 30" or larger dish and LNB:
http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Order/Dish...llite-dish.htm

you already have the reciever, so you are half there. Then point the dish to any of these satellites (yellow or green)
http://www.lyngsat.com/america.html
and you'll get whatever FTA is available. There are lots of resources here to help you in the pointing process, or you can ask on these forums.

I would like to remove Dishnetwork LNB on my Superdish and install my own Ivacom quad LNBF. That way I can receive FTA and Dishnetwork channels. Will this work? I got Pansat3500's. Do I need any type of switch if I do this ?

Thanks again

I dont think you can put on a invacom on a superdish and expect to get everything. I mean you are entering into an experimental realm here that I personally don't know about. For example I don't know whether you will be able to receive FTA+ dishnet when the lnb is positioned in the center of the superdish. The super dish and it's lnb holders are precisely designed to pick up 119+110+121.

The best way to do what you want to do is get a motor+ a 76cm or larger ku dish + an invacom circular/linear lnb or you can get a regular linear lnb and strap a circular one on to the linear lnb.

This way you can surf every darn satellite imaginable within your area's reach in the Ku band.
