Dish Signal Strength Problem
I posted this on another site but hopefully I can get support and order the parts for the problems I'm having.
I have a cable run at the office that is between 250' and 300' when pulled. Needless to say I have absolutely no signal for the receiver at the other end. Is there any type of in-line amplifier (or even an amp as the line comes off of the switch) that would amplify the signal enough to be picked up by the VIP 211? The dish tech I spoke with told me I needed a channel master amp but did not know the model number. I tried the in-line one from sadoun (S-SA01) which worked some but only passed through 119 and the receiver could not get 61.5 or 110. I got the response to try the VWS 330 3x3 Kathrein Amplifier. Does this require a power source to pass through and amplify the signal enough and if so what kind of power source would I need? This would be used in conjunction with a Spaun 4x8 Multiswitch. |

Well I can answer some of these:
What type of dish you have? This one I am not sure... the dish is about 3-4' in diameter (I've only been on the company roof once so I'm going from the image and memory) and there are 3 dishes, one pointed at 61.5, one pointed at 110, and one pointed at 119. As a result there is one cable from each dish to the main switch. That said there are 8 switches cascaded down with some of them having 8 lines coming off (they are Spaun 5582 switches) How many cables going out of switch to 211 and other receivers (if any)? We have 37 receivers at the moment with one of them being a dual tuner with a separate cable pulled to it (so 38 lines total) There are 8 211ks, 1 VIP 622, and the rest are a combination of 311s and 301s Of those 38 lines there are 5 that have low signal strength due to the distance of the pulls being over 300' from the switch. |

In that case, I recommend #5 here for each of the lines that have weak signals: Agile Passive and active VSAT Amplifiers
Use it close to the switch on the output port. No guarantee of performance since the distance is long. You may want to change the lines to RG11 also.
