Bigger dish

I have a dish 500 and receiver VIP 222.

Can you install a larger dish, to help in rain and storm black out.

If so what do I order?

John

You can upgrade your dish to the Dish 1000.2

Or for even better performance you can get the Dish 1000+

high gain dish

I installed a DPP twin last fall. The reception is a lot worse that the 2 dish 300's I had. I could reinstall the 300's, but I am going to install 2 Winegard 30" dishes. I can use the LNB's and the external switch for two tv's from the old Dish 300 installation. I had a lot of problems with snow fade with the dish 300's. I have more problems with the DPP twin. The big Winegard dishes should solve most of my fade problems.

I picked up several Winegard DS-2077 (30 inch) dishes a few months back to reduce 129 dropouts and better tolerate rain fade. This model takes Dish LNBFs without modifications. The included mount and pole is similar to a Dish 500, but bigger and beefier. I did a number of signal level comparisons between my old Dish 500s and the 30 inchers during heavy downpours and found that when the little dishes were giving up the ghost, the big dishes were still delivering as much signal as the little ones were when skies are clear. Highly recommended.
