DishNet Switch and LNB Education!

There are currently only two types of switch/lnb technologies being used by Dish today DishPo and DishPro Plus. There is a third and it is called a Legacy switch and or lnb. Legacy equipment can only be used with Echostar legacy receivers and FTA recievers. DishPro can only be used with DishPro, but the golden goose egg is the backward compatible DishPro Plus. Say you have one old 2700 model Legacy receivers and add a DPP 625, this is not a problem and there is no need for a DishPro adapter on the 2700 as long as the LNB is upgraded with a DPP. What we ran into with SuperDish upgrades was having to add DishPro adapters to allow the legacy receivers to be compatable, but within a couple months the legacy rcvrs would burn out. I have to run so what started out as good thread will be for now incomplete as there are a few more points I'd like to make concerning the amount of wiring involved with the different technologies as DPP is the greatest thing since Koolaid!!!!

I'm back for a minute. Lnb's with subdued markings only spelling dish are legacy DishPro and DishPro Plus are clearly marked. The DishPro Plus LNB only comes in a twin with 1 input port ( for wing dish ) and two output ports for up to 2 receivers in any configuration except Legacy on Legacy. There are two Legacy switches the sw21 and sw64. All DishPro and Pro Plus switches are clearly marked DP21, DP34, and DPP 44! If I raised any questions please reply and I'll clarify as I'm not a solid typing threader!!!

Drop me line to let me know if this is helpful or even more confusing. I'm not a know it all but I eat, sleep and s@#t this stuff man. I've been at this full time as an independent for over 4yrs...

Will it work?

I have a Fortec Star Mercury II receiver and Dish 500 w/ legacy quad LNB. Can I use them for FTA? If yes, please let me know how. I plan to get a 39" dish later but for now I just want to play with what I have. Thanks in advance!

Not true. DP plus comes also with 3 output ports (dish 1000.2)

Hell, I didn't think anybody would even pay it attention but as for it being one of my first post ever I thought it had good content! You boys run a tough forum, I was typing as it came to mind, but I never reread the posts to check for crazy little f-up's like so. But hey with a little extra help we all got an idea as to what's what now.

use a dp 21 with a dp34

New here and could not figure out how to start a new thread.
I have the following working:
I have a single dish 508 pvr receiver.
I have a 500 plus oval dish with 3 dishpro lnbf's catching 110, 118 and 119. These are fed into a dp34 switch. Can I add a second dish with a dishpro duallnbf on a dish 300 or 500, and point at 148 and connect to the dp34 with a dp21.?

It would not work. you need a dpp 44 switch. You do not need 148 if you have 118. anything on 148 is available on 118. Dishnetwork is trying to move all international channels off 148 and 61.5 to 118.
