Hi,
I recently emailed DISH about getting service up & running at our place; since we've always had those 2 dishes up on our roof and I am now beginning to consider subscribing. I mentioned the questions I have about integrating the Ku-band dish I presently enjoy using - or a
C-band dish we are thinking of moving up to - into a DISH network arrangement.
I basically want to know if: Once I do subscribe, may I use my Ku or C-band dish(es) to additionally/alternately receive DISH network programming along with the pre-exisiting DISH dishes on our roof?
Because then, can I point to more than one Echostar satellite to augment my channel selections?
I'm new to DISH.
Copied below are both letters; the 1st from me to DISH, and then after that their answer, although I abbreviated it to limit the text.
Any thoughts anyone can share on this?
Thanks greatly, everyone!

"Question: Hi, My wife and I moved to Santa Rosa, CA one year ago; the
home we bought had DISH satellite dishes (2, curiously) upon the roof of
this house we bought. I never had them "turned on" ... or enabled .. whatever the phrase is ... we've never subscribed to DISH.
I am lately beginning to consider doing so.
In the meantime, since I am skilled in electronics; telecommunciations,
and mechanics, I went and installed my own 3' FTA satellite system on
our roof; with an H-H motor. I did this about 6 months ago.
It's been a lot of fun ... I'm thinking of moving on up to a 6' BUD and
going to C-band ... but I haven't decided yet.
The reason I am writing, is I wanted to know, if I do end up subscribing
to DISH, are more than one Echostar satellite available to me, if I so
choose? And is my current 3' KU-band dish acceptable to use? and/or my future 6' C-band dish, if I get one? (These are Fortec dishes).
I ask that because that is a
motorized system, and therefore I can scan
the Clarke Belt and receive the satellites I want, including, I assume,
the Echostar birds. Or must I [only] use one or both f the pre-exisiting DISH dishes presently on our roof? I suppose that means i cannot scan to other Echostars.
Thanks, for the info, let me know."
Dish emailed back saying:
"To ensure that you are getting excellent service, our technician will
check if the
satellite dish to be mounted will get an optimal signal.
Don't worry because our current promotion includes free delivery with up
to four tuners installed free. We cannot guarantee for sure if your own
made dishes will be allowed. However, one you place an order online and
our
installers arrive at your place to install the system, you can discuss with them the set-up that you made so you can ask for their technical opinion about your set-up.
