RG6 required?

I had an installer come out today and he told me that RG6 needed to be hooked up to a receiver. The claim was that the lighter cable was causing receivers to overheat. Is this for real? I wired the house years 18+ years ago with RG59 (2 runs to each room) and have been sending my signal from my BUD to each room for years (all the runs are under 50 feet) can have always had a great picture.
I had thought that running a RG6 into my bundle area and then distributing via the RG59 would be good, but evidently it's not. I'm not into doing an outside pin job on the house so I've held off for now.
Please educate me. Looking at other options to move to DN.

That's baloney.

The reason for RG-6 is less loss at higher frequencies for longer runs.
If your RG-59 works, use it.
If it's easy to replace, cable is relatively cheap and I'd change it out personally.

Unfortunately it's not possible to do an interior replace of the wiring, and doing a good job outside will take a good level of effort.
I was practically floored when I was told that they actually had units start to burn due to RG59 and they could not use it due to fire risk.

Is it acceptable to hook up a good quality splitter to send the signal to various rooms in a house or are direct runs to a dish reqd?

I'd be verrrryyyyyyyy suspect of any receiver that was a fire hazard FOR ANY REASON. If there's a UL mark on it (and there should be), then ask the installer to put the concern in writing and send it to UL. I have a real heart-ache with consumer companies that use FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) and misinformation in their customer communication.

I'll have to defer that one to the folks that know Dish Network.

I know there are "multiswitches"
Dish Network Approved multi switches DP34, DP21, DP44
but I've never had any of the pay for dish services so all I know is its used to hook up mult-head dishes to multi receivers. How they all fit together I'm not sure.

Upon further reading, you might run into trouble trying to use RG-59.
They might not "certify" your installation and if something doesn't work right, it possibly could turn into a big hassle.

Thanks for the replies, the pic came in handy.

At this time I'm going to take another shot at it, instead of signing up for 4 receivers I'll go with 2 (looks like they will loose out on some coin), I can back feed the other boxes from either of these with the original wiring. I can run some RG6 from the ground floor rooms (prime rooms in this case). How many runs should I run to where the dish will be? Or should I just run them to a distribution box outside? The system will have 2 receivers. Thanks

I don't recommend RG59 for satellite connection at all. I have had many people complain about the signal, because they used their existing RG59 instead of RG6. Most newer ( less than 10-15 years old) homes are wired with RG6.

Since RG6 has thicker center conductor, it allows the flow of signal and power much better.

Imagine the difference between RG59 & RG6 is like a 1" water pipe compared to a 2" water pipe. The 2" pipe would allow more water to flow through it, with less friction and back pressure. That is my fluid mechanics advice for the day.

Single feed str8 through ground block to lnb! Dp 21,34 and 44 are signal splitters/combiners.
