What's the diff between Dish 500 legacy LNB vs DishPro LNB?

Hi,

I was curious about the difference between these two units? I mean they both have dual LNBs receive Dish programming at 110 and 119w, but is there something special with the LNB with the DP logo on it?

DP LNB's convert all horizontal frequencies to vertical so the lnb handles only one polarity. This is easier to separate signal with DP splitter. DP lnb's are not supported by older receivers and they need DP type switches.

Ah... I see.. actually, I have the DishPro Plus dual LNB.. it's got two coaxial cables coming out of it... I was told this was to go into two receivers.. so if I have just one receiver, the other cable is left hanging by itself. Also, I was told there's an LNB input port in it for it to take another LNB/dish, so sounds like conceivably, I can use this setup to receive three sats w/o a switch (110,119,3rd lnb), right?

Yeah! You are right. The LNb-in port is for a 3rd lnb either from anothe dish pointed to 61.5, 129 or 148 but its gat to be a DP Pro lnb.

Really? 3rd LNB has to be DP Pro LNB? Interesting.. I had just assumed that any LNB, such as linear LNB can be used.. hmmm....

I have tried using a linear lnb but with pictureon's contribution some of the transponder will work and some will not.
