subscibing to 1 int'l channel only

I would like to the know all the non-equipment costs associated with subscribing to just one international channel (israeli channel), and if this even possibile. I see a dish and tuner sold here, and I see on the dish web site the channel I want costs $19.95/mo. Are there: -sign-on/activation fees? -term commitment required? -can I subscribe to only one channel like this, with absolutely no other dish subscriptions? I would like to know everything upfront, before I install the dish and receiver.

Since there is no package for Israel channels, you can get that only one. with International channels only, Dishnetwork does not offer anything for free. you would have to pay for the dish and the receiver. Basic receiver with the dish would cost you $149. They would come out and install it for free. Since you're getting only International, there would be a $6/month access fee. You can have a $5 credit for 10 months if you provide a social security #.

By the way .. 2 other Israeli channels are uplinked now to DISH Network platform .. even though, currently still NOT available to subscribers...

But would be quite logical to assume (even though not 100% guaranteed) that soon they would, too, be available to Subscribers..

And then possibly DISH would package them with that Israeli Channel (mentioned in above posts)

The channels i am talking about are:

"Global One" and "Israeli Movie Channel" (channels 702 and 703 respectively)

You mean.. waiting till those 2 will become available.. and then getting a package of 3 Israeli channels (if they would be offered as a package deal to start with)?

Noone knows for sure, keep in mind, when or if those 2 other will become available.. (them being uplinked is a positive sign in itself.. but it can take from 1 day to NEVER to become available (don't think it will be NEVER in this case though.. pretty sure they will offer those channels eventually to Subscribers.. but they were just uplinked a week or 2 ago .. or so.. - so who knows.. maybe few more weeks or a month (just a guess) till they will become available..

And then you can see what's what.. - what's offered .. or what's offered to a New Subscriber maybe..

At the same time .. who is you provider now (of your main channels)?
Noone? .. or maybe a Cable company..?

Cuz say, if it's a Cable company.. - then maybe you can consider cancelling Cable TV some day.. and going to DISH as a new Subscriber..

Then i believe you can get a WAY BETTER Deal.. (as described in other threads) ..
FREE 622 (HD PVR i think), etc.. and probably other things...
Including, you probably will NOT have to pay that $6/month fee (cuz you have International only .. and not a domestic package) , that pictureon was mentioning above...

Not sure though on exact deal they might give you then.. - all i know those deals are pretty good currently and include free receiver(s) .. HD services, etc...

But on that - maybe you should check other threads here..

Or maybe even calling DISH and asking them all the specials (including packaging with internetional channel or internationa package .. with soem type of domestic package.. minimum domestic package (like Family package or a America 100 maybe) or a "higher up" package that would include more channels .. but will cost more accordingly of course...

But keep in mind - until those 2 other Israeli channels ARE INDEED availble to subscribers, when calling DISH .. - no use even asking about those 2 channels, cuz you will not get any answers more likely..
Cuz, channels being uplinked, as far as regular CSRs are concerned.. - doesn't mean much.. - in their eyes it's like "until it's officially offered to Subscribers, it doesn't count and unavailable" .. and they probably (regular CSRs anyhow) don't even know anything about it to start with (cuz they weren't informed about it) .. only maybe some higher-up tech people wouild know about those's existance..

at the moment i have directv. i have everything now the way i like it, homebrew pvr and all. for now i think i'll wait and see. for 3 channels i'd consider changing main service as well, for one its not worth it. and nothing irritates me more than when new subscribers get better deals than loyal customers, so i'll see if they offer a special promo if and when the other 2 channels become available. hopefully they read this ;-)

3 israeli channels packaged together, in my opinion anyhow, is a real possibility at some future point (hopefully soon) .. but we just don't know EXACTLY when this might occur..

SO .. just gotto wait and see what happens with this .. (let's hope it's in a NEAR future)

Most of the time when new channels become available and bundled together with an existing channel, the existing subscribers will be able to upgrade to the new package with the new bundled price easily. So you will not be left out.

If you can't wait, just subscribe to the channel that is available now and when new channels become available, call and upgrade. You may want to check before hand if the new channels will be available on the same satellite or not? Because, if not, then you will have to move your dish and so forth. You should be aware of that.

As reported by JohnH today, over at DBSTalk .. - those 2 Israeli channels became available to Subscribers TODAY

So if you are interested in them .. or that other one that you were asking about before.. or maybe in some sort of a Israeli Package that would include all of those - maybe good idea to give DISH a phone call, and enquire about everything.. (options, pricing, etc)
