R15 RF Remote?

Just found and joined the Forum. Looks like a great resource. So, while I'm here....

I was told that the R15 I just bought was RF capable by the installer. DTV say not. Unit has a coax plug for Rf ant. Would using the RC24 remote (Rf capable) rather than the RC23 (IR) shipped with the unit work (Rf) with the R15?
