DirecTV Systems

Launched in 1994, DIRECTV was the first entertainment service in the U.S. to deliver all digital-quality, multi-channel TV programming to an 18-inch satellite dish.

Question Need to combine 2 Directv signals on one coax

Hi:

I am a newbie here and I searched for an answer, but, didn't find what i was looking for. (I probably don't know what to ask.

Situation:

I have a motor home that has a single wide bandwidth coax cable from an outside connector to the entertainment center. I have a portable 3 LNB DirecTv Dish that feeds an HR10-250 HDVR. I would like to combine the two feeds from the multi-switch run them thru the coax and split them back apart at the receiver input(s). I know that I need a diplexer/splitter pair, but are there any components made to do this with two Directv feeds? ( I have seperate antenna/feed for off-air).

Thanks for any help you can provide. I am going blind reading tech "blurbs"

Hi park_ridge_dave... and welcome to the forum...

Unfortunately there is no way to combine two satellite feeds onto one coaxial cable. You must run another coax for the second receiver. The diplexers you mention are for combining a satellite signal and an RF (off air) signal on one cable.

Tnx for the response. I didn't think so. My first clue should have been that there is a multi-switch on a multi-lnb dish (seperates the DC switching etc. I guess). Guess I have to do it the old fashioned way (elbow grease 8-).

I'll do some more study on the subjects of Sat. dishes and their control etc.

Good forum, I'll learn a lot just "lurking around"

Cheers,

Dave

I reckon what you could do is use the single coax as a fish and pull two new RG6 cables into the motor home. I've never put a dish on an RV so I can't say for sure this would work. With my luck I'd get the cables all tangled around the motor...
