what model of direct tv dish are you replacing?
Single or multi head lnbf?

Reason I ask is the elliptical dishes they're using these days is optomized for 3ish sats. And they are getting quite large.

The big dish pictured is for a single sat (driven with a motor).
Sure you can put a multi head on it - it'll probably be just fine.
It should help with some rain fade.
But I think there are diminishing returns. The off axis LNBFs might be only as good as regular elliptical dish from vendor.

If you do go down this road please do post back your results.

I do get better performance of Ku with my 4 foot dish over 30" dish - especially during rain fade. I still lose the picture during really heavy storms but it seems to hang in there and come back faster than before.

StevenS will become famous soon enough
If you are using a small 18" with a single lnb one or our 90-cm dishes with an Invacom Quad or DSL2 would greatly improve your signal
