help--VP1020 setup

I bought VP1020 and tried it tree days already, and really frustrated, have no clue how to process to make it work anymore.

i would appreciate any help and advice on this.

here is summary about settup and equipment I use.

1. Dish and LNB: I used to use them to receive T5 with ST6000 IRD. LNB is 11.7G-12.2G, therefore, they are OK.

2. I believe the dish is pointed to T5 correctly because I used to mark the position on dish and I also use compass to adjust dish position

3. Computer is new computer HP 2.6G with new VGA card from Navidi--64M ( I am not sure if the new VGA card is necessary because my new computer HP already has build-in VGA card with 64M), anyway, I still bought it and install it on PCI slot

4. VP1020 is installed on PCI slot

5. I use download WinDTV2.2 and WinSDK2.5 from vendor's (Twinhan) website, VP1020 installation and WinDTV2.2 installation is OK

6. LOF for LNB is setup to 10750

Problem:

1. after I open WinDTV2.2, and setup LNB as above and click "apply", then choose Sat--t5 from list,

The signal strength is showing 80%, sometimes 76%, not consistent, the signal quality most of time is 0%, sometimes, it shows 2%

I click "Scan", not program locked

In addition, I tried to open program list, and click one of them (FTV), it shows" setting error, Fail to play program"

I tried many times to aligned dish, it still does not work. Is there anyting I miss there? or this Card just does not work at all.

Regards

Re: help--VP1020 setup

1. The dish is fine since it used to work with DVB receiver, ST6000.
2. Even you mark the position on dish, it does not mean your dish will get a good lock. In this case, it's look like the dish is not well aligned. Don't play with card unless you are 100% sure you get a good lock on T5.
3. Look like your PC is fine.
4. Look like OK
5. OK
6. OK

Problem:
1. OK, but don't trust the preprogram channel list, some of the preset freq might not active. Make sure you use the active ones when tuning the dish.
Check out lyngsat for more info
http://www.lyngsat.com/t5.shtml
As I have said before, it's look like your dish does not get a good lock. I would not use the TH sat meter for tuning the dish since the card's tuner is very sensitive. Do you still have the ST6000 receiver?
If so, then use it to tune the dish.
If not, get a sat meter.
good luck

I got it

Hi, dtsexpert

After dish is re-aligned, I finally lock some programs in T5. Mainly Transporter at 12177, However, programs at transporter 12084 are not able to locked.

I find out that VP1020 is too senstive to signal strength. You may receive programs with this same dish and IRD, but might still need to align the dish to let VP1020 lock the program.

Re: I got it

Look like tyou still need to align your dish to get better lock. Did you set the lnbf skew (tilt) correctly?
