tp10 and tp11

ok i see part of it. tp10 and 11 are the only transponders i have over 50%
signal on. so i will try to align dish better.

ok i have aimed this dish at several birds and i get up to 80 % on each one but never will the scan feature ever attain a program list from one of them. i am pointed at telstar5 now and have 80 % signal and no quality 0% quality. cant watch any tv or hear any radio. the pre packaged program list for telstar5 was just 9 different hiragliphs none made any sence and edit proved them to be nonesense.

Does the card allow you to set local oscillator frequency for the LNB ? If so, select 10,600 MHz since you are using a universal LNB.

ok i am finally getting some quality on meter. i just installed the directx 9a drivers. i guess that must be the key to getting card to turn signal into quality reading. thanks for reply bobkat, it is adjustable however it has been set to that all along. i will realign dish tomorrow and i think i will get a picture now.

ok this VisionPlus VP-DTV FTA System just does not work and i am going to return it. sometimes seldom when i open s/w it will get quality, never very much and a weak signal 12% max usually and up to 4% quality. but most of the time when i open s/w it gets 60%-80% signal and 0% quality.
i have tryed several different satellites, win98se and xp opperating systems.
thanks for the help bobkat.

OK fellow geeks !!!

I just bought me one of them PCI cards and got it flying no problems. I noticed however that the signal strength and quality indicators don't work right. I connected my T5 dish coax to the card and configured the transponders properly; however it showed weak signal and zero quality !! :?: I know the dish is aligned to T5 so there HAD to be signal at the card IF input. So I did a "SCAN ONE SATELLITE" anyway and sure enough it downloaded all the channels on T5. The weird thing is -- after I watched a few channels and came back to the configuration screen it showed good signal strength and quality -- both green!! So that's really weird. The drawback is there is no way to align a dish using this card since it doesn't seem to lock onto the signal until AFTER you download; so you would need to align the dish first using a receiver or signal meter and THEN connect it to the PCI card.....

But the card works quite well and picture quality is good.

My next quest is to try to tune in ExpressVu's Nimiq 91 and Nimiq 82 birds -- thing is, I forget what the L.O. frequency is for the LNB; it would be the same as for DishNetwork but I don't know what that is either !! Plus, I can't seem to find out where to configure the card for circular polarity. Hmmmmm.....

Got it -- 11,250 MHz for both L.O. frequencies

kat

Another thing -- it appears this card does not recognize an SW21 switch; hmmm.....

Sadoun Satellite Sales replaced my card and lnbf and still it does not work. is there something i am missing?
i aligned the dish to gallaxey 11 or nimiq1,same location, using my bell express view ird and lnb 92% singnal that is great for my area. i removed bell lnb and replaced it with the universal FortecStar (FSKU-v) that came with the system, hooked coax to the lnb-in connection on vp-1020 card opened s/w and set lnb settings to LNB power =on LnB type= universal and disable on all other settings. hit ok and apply and went to Dish setup
i have up to 80% signal but it is red and says red, scan one satellite never locks on to anything. this is the samething the other card was doing. i think the s/w is bad. i would sure like to see one of these cards work for myself. and see the settings to use for lnb.

Do you have a stand-alone receiver? I would not use a PCI card to align the dish.
If you don't have any other receiver, get a sat meter to align the dish. It seems to me that your dish is not well aligned.
Also, try to double check the LO. Although it is set as "universal", double-check to see the actual LO which should be 10600.
good luck

do you know the setting for my universal FortecStar (FSKU-v) lnbf? the settings on the box seem to be the regular universal settings. i have even tryed custom settings and no luck. if you have had luck please tell your settings my dish is pointed at sat i do have sat meter to align and i did use a stand alone ird to align and verify video with my bell expressview ird. this card just will not work it may be a setting i do not know.

The LO settings for universal lnbf should be:
Low LO: 9750
High LO: 10600
XpressVu uses circular feed which LO is 11250
If I were you, I would first test the card to make sure that it does work using XpressVu signal.
In your prior message, you stated that you can get a lock on ExpressVu right.
If so, connect the cable from your dish to the card, change the LO to 11250, then scan the the sat. There are few of FTA promo channel on this sat, Nimiq1.
Here is list of FTA promo channels:
12545, Right (Vertical), SR 20000
12661, right ( Vertical), SR 20000
If the card works, you should be able to watch these FTA promo channels.
Then replace the ExpressVu lnbf with the Universal one, change the LO settings as stated above. Scan the sat again, you should get channels on G11R since both G11R and Nimiq1 are at the location.
Good luck

Thanks Dtsexpert

I got it going.
it was the data you posted about where the chalnnels are that did the trick.
12545, Right (Vertical), SR 20000
12661, right ( Vertical), SR 20000
after changing the data to that you posted the card scanned, and reconized some channels for the first time. i guess all data that comes prepackaged with vp-1020 card is old and obsolete. all channels i scanned the first time were scrambled so i got a current list of gal11 and punched in some #'s and it found some FTA channels and i had TV for the first time on my VP-1020. NOW i am happy with my card. Thanks again Dtsexpert.
