question about Twinhan 1020 PCI recording

i have been using this card for almost 2 months. no problem to watch TV.
however i find out problems with recording.
if i record something short (30 Min or less) everything is fine.
if recording longer than 40 min, i have problems.
when replay the recorded file, the part before 40-45 min is fine. but the part after 40-45 min is not good. sound is okay. only the video.
    the video is not smooth.
    here is my computer info:
cpu 2.6 GHz intel (Dell 8300, good system)
    RAM 512 M
    Video Card Radeon 9800 ATI

    can someone help me out?

i am thinking it might be the RAM size. but not sure.

    thanks

I wonder if it could possibly be fragmented disk space? Ie perhaps you have enough contiguous disk space for the 40 min, but it has to jump around to get the rest? Just a thought. I've heard other people report similar things, but don't remember seeing the solution posted. And actually I haven't played back anything but short recordings myself, so I'm not sure that it works on my system either. But anyway, you might try defragmenting the hard drive.
Also curious what OS, and what file format you're using? I recently had a problem with video files from another source, and it turned out that the drive I was trying to store to was formatted as a FAT32 (I wanted it to be compatable with my Win98 computers). It turns out that there are size limits for files in FAT and FAT 32, I think it is 2 GB and 4 GB respectively. In my case, I was streaming a 6 GB file to this drive, and very strange things happened. Anyway, if the file you recorded happens to get up in the 2GB-4GB range and your drive isn't NTFS, that might be a probem.

I just went through a bunch of things I've recorded, by a number of different methods, and so far, the things I recorded that ended up with file sizes greater that 1 GB seem to have problems. The recordings are so old, however, that I can't remember if this was the case right after I made the recording, or if this has something to do with the current configuration of my computer, ie CODECs, and other installed software.
Even on some of the shorter recordings that worked perfectly, I found that playing them back by different methods sometimes gave different results. For example, I recorded using VisionDTV, DVBAPPS, and TSREADER, and played back via VisionDTV, Graphedit and WinDVD, and it seemed to make a difference with respect to which combination was used. In some cases playing back via WinDVD worked perfectly, while using other methods gave no audio.

Anyway, I previously thought that I had this recording thing down, but now I'm not so sure. I intend to do some experimental recordings to test this. I'm thinking that part of my problem was that some of my recordings were made with Norton Antivirus running, although I usually try to disable this when working with DVB stuff. I'm also not sure how much it affects things to have my local network zipping away while recordings are being made, as it may be taking priority re cpu time. I may also try disconnecting the network.
I hope other people will come in with their experiences recording things.

    thanks. nice reply.

last night i let the computer do a scheduled recording like this:
record 50 min, stop for 1 min and then record 50 min and stop for 1 min...
4 files of 50 min each were recorded (file size about 800 M each).
all files are good from beginning to the end. so this will be the solution for now before i can find out why.
someone told me today that the problem might be caused by virtual memory.
i will do a recording tonight with reset virtual memory of 4G.

virtual memory does not help at all.
also tried split file in the program recording, not work either.
it always happens at about 1 G. above that video has problems.

    help please.

    thanks
