I just went through a bunch of things I've recorded, by a number of different methods, and so far, the things I recorded that ended up with file sizes greater that 1 GB seem to have problems. The recordings are so old, however, that I can't remember if this was the case right after I made the recording, or if this has something to do with the current configuration of my computer, ie CODECs, and other installed software.
Even on some of the shorter recordings that worked perfectly, I found that playing them back by different methods sometimes gave different results. For example, I recorded using VisionDTV, DVBAPPS, and TSREADER, and played back via VisionDTV, Graphedit and WinDVD, and it seemed to make a difference with respect to which combination was used. In some cases playing back via WinDVD worked perfectly, while using other methods gave no audio.
Anyway, I previously thought that I had this recording thing down, but now I'm not so sure. I intend to do some experimental recordings to test this. I'm thinking that part of my problem was that some of my recordings were made with Norton Antivirus running, although I usually try to disable this when working with DVB stuff. I'm also not sure how much it affects things to have my local network zipping away while recordings are being made, as it may be taking priority re cpu time. I may also try disconnecting the network.
I hope other people will come in with their experiences recording things.
