Getting ready to give up..

1020a pci sat card. Cant get it to work. tried everything i read here and there. tried 3 different progs too. VisionDVB says system setting error, failed to play program when i start it up and when i scan a sat it doesnt get anything. the dish (dish500 dual lnb)is fine when its hooked up to my dishnet reciever. Bit when i hook up to the visionplus card and try to set up dish it doesnt show any quality and always says signal 80. What settings for the lnb set up should i use? maybe thats the problem.

What satellite are you trying to receive? Why bother with twinhan if you already have dishnet receiver and subscription. You will only be able to receive FTA stuff of of dish satellites (few music stations and promo channels).

Make sure your LO for LNB is set to 11250.

Yes I have had my card for a while now and working with no problems. I have a regular 31" dish with universal and circular lnbs side by side and a diseqc switch. I am not sure how dish500 swithcing is done to select a correct lnb. But I am pretty sure that both are circular which means that you LO in LNB settings of VisonDTV should be set to 11250.

There isn't much FTA stuff on those satelites, there is GolTv and few radio stations. Everything else is encrypted and not receivable with DVB-S cards.

Signal is up and quality too

Check this out, I messed around with the custom LNB settings like you said and used 11250, the signal went up to 93% and quality went to 98%. Scanned what I think was echostar7 (119) and got a list of channels. Used the filter button to show only FTA. But when i try to view them i get the "Setting Error Failed to play program" error. So it looks like im going in the right dirrection. What prog are you using Mr. Higgins? Maybe you could let me know what settings are working for you and I will try it here. Im still going to keep the dish pointed at 119/110 where it is for now till i know i can get this card running right. Also, my dish has a built in switch in the Dual LNB so I'm selecting the disable option in the LNB setup. Thanks, Tommy.

To help you while trying to lock on FTA signals with this card, I would highly recommend downloading a copy of TSREADER, ie http://www.coolstf.com/tsreader/
TSREADER will tell you which streams are encrypted and which are FTA, and will give you the correct PIDs, tell you if they are audio or video, etc.
That way you can avoid wasting your time on signals that are encrypted.
I often see situations using the VisionDTV software that comes from Twinhan, that it pops up this "cannot play program" message, and often have problems getting signals to play with that software, so I rarely use it.
The TSREADER doesn't itself "play" video and audio, although there are pluging that allow it to stream data to programs that will. However I use other programs for playing programs, which I find much more convenient than the VisionDTV program, but use the TSREADER when looking for programs, just because they make it instantly clear what kind of signal you are looking at. After you find the signals with TSREADER, you can then know which signals to spend your time on with whatever program you use to view the programming.
Just my opinion.
