which pci can do AC3 audio of PBS??????

looks like this card can PBS audio AC3.

My question is whether Visionplus VP-DTV Sat-CI can decode PBS AC3 audio. http://sadoun.com/Sat/Products/TwinHan/TH1020A.htm

I carefully read the specification of card and I even went their web site. It only says the card can do MPEG II audio. Is that what I am looking for?

Many thanks,

Sam :?:

All of the twinHan cards can because you use an ac3 codex from the computer. I run a blue card and the windtv software and I get all of the FTA pbs including HDTV with full stereo.

Here's my question

If this card can decode ac3 with software do you still have to have a A/V receiver to send to or can it output through soundcard? Also I have an ATI video capture card, I can output the vid signal from my sat receiver(now a satwork 3688) into the ati card. I have ac3 decoding software on my computer(not the dvbapps though) so is there any way get sound from pbs
using the ati card?

It is not the card but the codex and the software on the computer. the audio is output through your normal sound card. The card is a mere conduit for the signals. Most of the translation work is done in software but not all. that is why the card is cheap and rather small and you need an decent speed machine.

As to the ATI issue yes you can out put the video and the audio but it is basicly using your "TV" as the display device instead of your monitor. depending on your ATI the audio also can be output to your home stereo either as standard two channel or with fiber or using an rca cable you can deliver ac3 audio to the home theater. I cannot guarentee how much 5.1 is available in FTA audio, I do know PBS (amc3) is ac3 audio and I would guess the PBS HDTV I watch may be full 5.1

Hope this helps,

Maus
