th1030a setup

I just got the th1030a and have setup everything sucessfully with the exception of the lnb setup ( at least i think that is all) I have read on these forums that pointing at a directv birds will not work so i have hooked up my dishnetwork dish and have tried scanning sattlite. I have not been able to find any operating freq on any of my dishes therefore I have been reading on these forums and searching te web for any information that may work. I have tried many setups to no avail.

The problem with my dishnetwork reciever is I can only get a signal from the 110 sattlite. Does this sattlite have fta on it?

What echostar bird is the 110 sattlite? (for setting in dish setup)

Will the switch on the dish have any adverse effects to tuning in the sattlite?

The switch is a twin 500. Are the frequences diffrent from 950, 2150? if so what are they?

On another note I have a directv eliptical dish with a tripple lnb that is pointed at 101, 110 and 119. are there no fta on these sattlites and if there are what are the frequences for the directv tripple lnb?

Since the directv dish I have is pointing to 101, 110 and 119 wouldnt is it not being pointed to the same dishnetwork birds 110 and 119?

I was told by a directv rep that the lnb had a miltiswitch in it would this cause any trouble?

Thanks for all the help.

Even though the satellites are in the same orbital position they are completely different. The DirecTV satellites will not be recognized by your card because it is DVB. The card should however be able to lock onto the DishNetwork satellites where there are some FTA channels.

You must set the L.O. frequency on the card to 11,250 MHz. But the card will not control the fatboy twin LNB on your Dish500. You must bypass the internal multiswitch in the LNB but with that LNB it is impossible. If you have a single LNB (DishNet or DTV) you could use that to test the signal. It is very hard to align the dish using the signal meter on the Twinhan card; its response is very slow. You should align the dish using an external meter.

the switch on my dishnet dish is external. I have what looks like two lnb's and from them to a switch. can i simply remove the switch and connect to one of the lnb's?

I also have another dish (directv) with a dual lnb would it be simpler to set this up?

I allready have two dishes three is getting a bit tacky so i would like to aviod the other dish setup if possable

Thanks

Yes, that is the best method. From your previous post it sounded like you had a twin LNB (2 LNBs built into one housing). Looks like you have 2 LNBs on a Y-adapter with an SW21 switch.

It is a complete listing for what is carried on each satellite worldwide. The card we are talking about can pick up FTA channels. The way to tell if these channels are free and viewable by the card is to look for the yellow color channels marked "DVB" and some have a little "F" icon beside them.
