? Are you asking how to get an AC3 output to go to an AC3 amp, or just trying to get sound out of channels with AC3 audio?
If the former, it depends on your sound card/ computer. If the latter, you should be able to get audio on AC3 channels using either the VisionDTV program from the Twinhan site or using the DVBAPPs program, and probably other programs. It may depend on what codecs are in your system from other programs, I'm not sure, but it works fine on my computer with both those programs. Only other program I have loaded that might have brought in other codecs is a WinDVD DVD player.
One thing though, if you are using the VisionDTV (or the older WinDTV) from Twinhan, when the program searches, finds and stores channels, I've found that it may not "find" the audio PID on AC3 channels. I've had to add them manually on a couple channels.

I know this thread is old, but maybe someone will take a look at it. I currently have the same problem with no audio from AMC-3 on the PBS feeds that use AC3 audio. All other sats. and the audio is fine. I am using the VisionPlus software. I got my card about 3 weeks ago and the software version is 2.42a . I have a 2.66 ghz P4 system with 256 meg of ram and a 120 gig hard drive. I also have PowerDVD and WinDVD Platinum installed. I also have a Hauppauge WinTV-HD card installed and working. I get AC3 audio from the Hauppauge card on the OTA digit PBS channels, but not with the VisionPlus software on AMC-3. VANNUYS what version of VisionPlus did you install that worked for you?

Vision DTV software is not decoding AC3. You have to use dvbapps ( www.dvbapps.com ) or some other software (like progdvb or mytheater)

I tried Han's software and had problems, possibly a conflict with the vision plus software. When I tried to tune a known active channel, it says that it has a video lock and is searching for audio and just sits there with a blue sceen. After have installed Han's software I had problems with the VisionPlus software, in that every channel I would tune to, the video was froze. I had to remove han's software and manualy remove his stuff from my registry before the VisionPlus software would work again.

Just to double check what I said a few posts above, I just checked again, and I am definately getting audio on the PBS AC3 channels "using" VisionDTV. I say "using" because it is my guess that VisionDTV may not be doing the decoding, but instead it may be my sound card on my computer. I'm not sure what the sound card is, it's one of those built into the motherboard things, but I seem to remember it mentioning doing AC3, but I'll have to check on that. I both get audio on the computer, and the sound card outputs audio to my TV when I watch on that.
I have another desktop DVB receiver (Lifetime), that doesn't decode AC3 either, but passes it to an external Soundblaster Extigy soundcard that I have, and this works fine too. So sound cards are capable of doing the decoding if the receiver sends the data TO the soundcard, and VisionDTV definately seems to do that. I have it running right now.
I'm using a version of VisionDTV that I downloaded 6 or 7 months ago.
As above, AC3 also works via DVBAPPS, but I think that is done by software codecs. Or maybe I'm wrong, and it is all done in software, and you just need the proper codecs, but in any event you CAN get AC3 sound with VisionDTV.

Don't try to run DVBAPPS and VisionDTV at the same time. I think any 2 DVB programs will conflict with each other. Although I don't think you did that.
However, I had problems at first with DVBAPPS too. I can't remember exactly, but when you install DVBAPPS, the installation program installs drivers for the 1020 card (which I think is blue), however most people now have the 1020a card (red). What you need to do is download a driver file that Hans has at his site for the 1020 a, and replace the other driver.
I later upgraded to a newer version of DVBAPPS, and assumed that the new version would take care of this issue, but it didn't, and DVBAPPS stopped working again, until I replaced that driver file again.
I run DVBAPPS along side (not at same time) VisionDTV and have no problems.

Few things needs to be clarified:
There is no driver on Hans' website. For TwinHan 1020a (red card) user, one needs to download the VOC_TH.ax, copy and paste it in the DVBApps root directory. If DVBApps meets your expectation, I encourage users to donate few bucks to support Hans so he can continue to develope his program.

Yeah, that's the file I was trying to remember. I thought that was a driver of some kind. When I installed a new version, until I was reminded to move that file to the new directory, it didn't work.
Thanks.

Like I believe I stated earlier I also have a Hauppauge WinTV-HD card in the same computer and the AC3 audio is just fine with that. My computer is also one of those with the built in audio and it has all the bells and whistles, coaxial in and out as well as connections for 5.1 surround. Since I posted last I Tried MyTheatrte and the AC3 works just fine. The only problem I have with that software is when it tries to lock on a (how can I say this) touchy signal even an HD signal such PBS-HD off of AMC-3, it causes my computer to crash. The same signal being recieved by VisionDTV won't crash the computer. I'm running a Medion 2.66ghz P4 with 256 meg. of ram, 120 gig hard drive, Nvidia GeForce-4 ti4200 128meg. DDR video card. I do keep WinXP updated on a regular basis

That is just what I was doing. I'll have to download that "VOC_TH.ax" file and try that. But first I'm gonna try a download version of VisionDTV first, rather than the CD distribution that came with the card.
I'll keep trying, Thanks for the help
