I know this is a dumb question that I can probably figure out myself with a little work, but I was hoping to speed up the process by asking.
I've had my
Twinhan card for a few months now, and am just beginning the
installation in a new computer I put together.
I installed the card, and I cancled out of the Windows 2000 found new hardware windows. I then put in the installation CD that came with the card.
It pops up IE5 , but after a little bit of chunking, it just comes up with a blank window, rather than giving me the options described in the manual.
I checked the system requirements, and I see that DirectX8 is requirred. I "thought" that I had this, because I've installed a couple DVD players and Nero, which I thought needed DirectX, but I'm not sure.
How do I tell if I have DirectX? Is DirectX required just to run the installation program?
Also, in looking at the disk, and the manual, I see a lot of PDF files, and I don't think I've yet installed the acrobat reader on this computer. I assumed that this wouldn't be necessary, because I think I saw installation of that as one of the options shown in the manual, but maybe that is the problem???
Only other thing I can think of is that IE5 isn't recent enough or perhaps I haven't enabled enough of the options in IE5. I'm not an IE user, and intend to put Netscape on this computer eventually. Perhaps I should do that first?
Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions for why the install program comes up with a blank window? My computer should be fine otherwise. Its a 2.4 GHz with about 500meg of relatively fast ram and a fancy video card (which was another reason I thought I had DirectX).
Is there any way to install the drivers and software without going through the autorun thing?
I'm intending to just start upgrading things like DirectX, Acrobat, and the browser, but was hoping someone had a quicker solution.
Thanks.
