Getting CCTV4 with Pansat 1000?

Hi-
I have a Pansat 1000 receiver and a 39 inch dish with a Ku band LNBF attached to it. I know this was used by somebody else a few years ago to get CCTV4 on some satellite. I would like to set it up again to do the same... will that work? Somebody I talked to thought that a couple years ago CCTV switched to require some new hardware or something, but from looking on this forum it sounds like it is still available free...

I live on the west coast, so I guess I should use the G3C satellite? Will my receiver work, or is it too old or something? Forgive me my stupid questions, I'm very new to all this.

Thanks!

Another thing-
My receiver has a channel knob that goes from about 1-30+, and an Audio knob that goes from 1-10. How do I know which channel to tune in?

Thanks!

if the reciver is 3-4 years old it should be able to receive cctv on g3/ku. I don't know what kind of lnb u have hard to make suggestion. this is what I recommend, I recently bought a new receiver, and t90 dish and 0.4db lnb, installed receive cctv3,cctv9,cctve&f and another hongkong channels all excellent, much better than my OLD stuff can do. nowadays, equipments advanced quickly and pretty cheap. I suggest u investigate some new stuff they do much better than old equipments.

Help for HongKong Channel

Hi CVU
I read your mesg that you mentioned about Hongkong channels. Would you please advise me how to get Hongkong channels or maybe the name is fine. To me, I only found CCTV, CCTV9 and Spanish on 95 degree west and 97 degree west I didn't see any Hongkong channels at all even on AMC4 too. Any ideas?
Thank for your advise
Corona

the hong kong channel is ATV. I think it is called Asia (or Asian) television. the signal is week, quality is less than 30% but channel is locked. my dish pointing at g3, but I have not fine tune it, may be this atv is from other bird? other than this Hong Kong channel, I also receive a religious channel.

Would buying a DVB-S PCI card work? If I need to buy a new receiver, I'm tempted to just get a card I can stick in my PC and go that route. Also, are these signals from the satellite digital?

Thanks for the info!
