G3C: CCTV4

Does anyone have problem with CCTV4 on G3C? Somehow I cannot get anything :mozilla_frown: The CCTV English and Spanish/French channels are fine though. Thanks!

Re: cctv4 should be ok now

Same question from a different user :=)

I was able to receive CCTV-4/9 with a FTA receiver off G3C until the last CNY. After that I switched to AMC4 for a while when a few other channels were shown. When the AMC4 stuff ended, I wanted to switch back to G3C, somehow I could not find anything any more.... I was not even sure if I was able to aim the dish properly, because the receiver always reported "no signal"....

What's the deal? Has Phoenix decided to use encryption since Feb. 2005? Even that, I had seen "scrambled signal" message before, but I cannot see any signal now.

Can someone help?

Jack

Your dish is not aimed correctly. CCTV4,9,E&F are still FTA on G3C. CCTV4 has been there for over 4 years now. Maybe more.

That's what I thought... But I have tried multiple look angle calculators, and I have one of those "detectors" in hand. The metter thingy sounded pretty loud when I moved the dish to the (what I though was) 174/51 direction... The problem was that my receiver still says "no signal"

:mozilla_cry:

BTW, I just bought a new FTA receiver, because I thought my older BEC was the problem.... no avail so far...

Don't forget the magnaetic deviation

For GC3, (CCTV4, CCTV9 and CCTV EF, theses three are always together, if you only see CCTV9 and CCTV EF you are not pointing GC3). after calculated your azimuth and elevation of your local area, be sure to apply the magnetic deviation , otherwise you will never pointing it correctly.

g3 cctv4

cctv4, cctv9,cctve&f all working fine, if no quality means u aiming at wrong direction. aimming is T&E process. meeters azimuth, elevation etc are all approximate. meeter shows high signal doesn't mean u point at g3. there are 60+ birds all close to each other. be patient. with a portable small tv close to dish will help. since small angle off cause BIG difference at fat distance. good luck.
