Looking for advice

My wife wants to watch Korean T.V. and we presently get KISB 1, from Warner Cable for $10.00/month.
I was cruising around seeing if I could get a satellite system that would pick up KISB 1 (MBC I think) plus any other free stations.
Referring to Lyngsat, Intelsat 5, shows that the KISB stations are not encrypted.
I asked an online vendor for his recommendation and this is what he said.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Product: Coship CDVB2300 Complete System
Price: $199.00 USD
Includes:
- Coship CDVB2300 Receiver
- Remote control
- 2 AAA batteries
- WS International WS7630 Dish
- WS International GSS2100 LNBF
--------------------------------------------------------------------
What do you think about this and would you recommend another ?
I have seen the Fortec and Sat Cruiser recommended on this site.
Additionally I think I would be interested in a motor driven unit cause I am lazy.
I saw other posts that talked about KISB being encrypted. If that were to happen, would I need to buy some kind of access card to plug into the receiver to permit viewing ?
Would KISB sell these things, and approximately how much would they cost ?

Thanks a lot. I am a totally newbie to this technology and appreciate all your help.

Armadel;...first,go read the rules before you post again.I'm just a member here,so some free advice...no hacking talk. Now,as far as your equipment goes...perhaps you should try to find someone in your area to get to know to get a feel for this hobby before buying anything. These 2 were free, but the next one is gonna be VERY expensive(wink!) 8)

Armadel

There are 3 KISB channels on IA5. 2 of them are FTA and the 3rd is scrambled (sometimes it is broadcast FTA).

I would recommend the Fortec Star DVB-786NA system you will find on our website. It is Made in Korea by the way and is of excellent quality and reliability.

If you get the motorized system, then you will get the FTA Korean channels on AMC4 as well.

Good luck and welcome to the forums.

Hacking talk ???

Swampthang, I fail to see how anything about my post can be considered hacking.
If you are talking about my query re the encryption, I suggest you read it again.
I wanted a receiver that would be able to support any of the smartcards/decoders which I would purchase from a legitimate source.
I have no intention to, nor do I want advice on how to break encoding and I resent your accusation.

Armadel;now that we have that straightened out, let's see what we can do.First,go to the reader's area where the links are for members photos of their rigs. Are you mechanically inclined? If the Korean channels is what you are specifically after,I'd start with a fixed 90cm dish(you can put a motor in later). What area are you in?perhaps a member near you could get involved.good luck, and the force be with you.

KISB has upgraded their service, which is a good and bad thing.

They now have the follwing channels:

MBC
SBS
YTN
CTV (Christian)
A movie channel.

Bad news it will cost you $25/month + $50 registration fee

There are a couple (3 I think) of FTA Korean channels on AMC4 -- just noticed them today. YTN and some others.
